To Whom It May Concern:
I am a sophomore at Antelope High School in Antelope, Ca. I am writing this letter to address the current
Syrian refugee situation. The United States is made up of immigrants from all different countries.
However, there was never as big of a problem with homeland security as there is today. Terrorist
organizations, like Isis, may be able to have access to the United States if Syrian refugees are allowed into
the country. Like most American families, my ancestors were immigrants of Irish and German descent
who were accepted into the United States to start a new life. However, they immigrated many, many years
ago and there was no such fear for terrorism as there is today. Syrian refugees should not be let into the
United States for the fear of sacrificing homeland security.
Currently, Syrians are fleeing the Islamic State as they have taken over the country. The war has had a
drastic impact on Syria. Many have been killed, life expectancy has dropped, and they are now enduring
an economic crisis. President Barack Obama is faced with the decision of letting the Syrian refugees into
the United States. Many governors do not agree with Obama's decision to accept Syrian refugees into the
U.S. They do not trust that he will keep the U.S. safe by letting in these refugees.
The refugee crisis today is similar to the WWII refugee crisis. The American citizens during World War II
rejected the Jewish refugees because they feared for their safety. They did not want to have problems with
Germany. Likewise, accepting Syrian refugees may pose a threat to security of millions of Americans.
Also, the U.S. was accused of having prejudice against the Jewish people around that time. There is, no
doubt, prejudice against the Syrian people. If Syrian refugees are accepted, hate crimes may begin to rise.
The refugee crisis today is relatively similar to the WWII refugee crisis.
I aagree with current law makers decisions to keep Syrian refugees from entering the country. The threat
of terrorism is too high to risk. One mistake in a screening, and millions of innocent lives are put at risk.
President Barack Obama also has a habit of making promises that he does not keep. There is no guarentee
that he will make sure every refugee is given a thorough security screening. I agree with current law
makers decisions to keep Syrian refugees from entering the country.

In conclusion, Syrian refugees pose a threat to homeland security. There is no guarentee that each and
every one will recieve thorough background checks and screenings. The senator should vote no on
accepting Syrian refugees. Thank you for your time and consideration.
