Tootgarook Wetland Education Program 2016

Our Junior School Councillors are involved in this program and are traveling to the Tootgarook Wetlands
tomorrow for their 3rd workshop.
The aim of this program is to engage local students in the environmental significance of the
Tootgarook Wetlands. The students will become Junior Environmental Scientists and learn
about the wetlands through practical workshops to learn about environmental
monitoring. Students will learn how to test water quality and identify local
animals. Students are expected to share this new knowledge to others at school through
assemblys, class presentations, posters or displays. The students will gain new experiences
in sustainability and scientific investigation skills. They will develop a passion and empathy
for their local environment. Through engaging the students in their local environment, we aim
to raise the profile and community perceptions of the Tootgarook Wetlands.

=========================================

Last Friday the 6th of May 25 Band members went on their Super Day Out!
The students travelled on our bus up to Melbourne to
the Arts Centre and were involved in a workshop to
compose music using computer software. You may
have heard some
of the pieces
being played
before the bell!
We then went in
to Hamer Hall to meet the Melbourne Symphony
Orchestra for Bamboozled! They played parts of
different music for us such as the William Tell
Overture, Allegro from Beethovens 7th
Symphony, Hoe Down from Rodeo, Dr Who
Theme, Montague & Capulet Dance from Romeo
and Juliet, The Toreadors by Bizet, RimskyKorsakovs Flight of the Bumblebee and
Bamboozled which required the students and
teachers to join in singing and doing some
actions.
It was an amazing day for all involved. A big
thank you to
Michelle George
for driving some of
the children to
Melbourne and to
Graham for driving the bus.
