Overall Assessment:
The edited versions presented in my portfolio are concise and coherent, and the works are
somewhat easier to read and navigate through. Formatting was a huge problem,
especially in projects B and C, but nonetheless I tried my best to fix the issues. As I was
editing this semester, my main focus was grammar, readability, syntax, and semantics. I
wanted the language and content in each of the projects to be as clear and concise as
possible so readers would not be distracted, and so the readers point could get across as
effectively as possible.

Challenges
In addition, I had many challenges to overcome. I was not really familiar with
track changes, and by the end of the semester I mastered it. So Im very proud of this
accomplishment. I also had never used Adobe Acrobat, and to say that it was just
complicated would be an understatement. I still do not like Adobe Acrobat; it posed the
biggest issue for me, not only this semester but also in my portfolio. While converting
from Adobe Acrobat to PDF then to Word, the formatting in project B got messed up. The
graphs and charts do not look like they did on the original file. For Project A, I kept the
same formatting, but I got rid of some of the bulleted lists. For project C I changed the
format of the website, and created my own on Weebly; although, I kept the content the
same, For my last project, I kept the formatting the same because it was just a paper, but I
did move a couple sentences and paragraphs around. With that being said, throughout the
semester I also struggled with editing in general. I made a lot of comments and changes.
Sometimes I really felt like I was over editing and that I did too much. However, I
learned how to make suggestions and comments that will help and not offend the author.

Peer Editing
The peer editing process was always extremely helpful. Harvey and Cheyenne are
very intuitive and intelligent; they have an eye for editing. We were always challenging
each other, and if it were not for the trusty handbook, we probably would never reach a
consensus.

Portfolio Process
For the portfolio, I created website on Weebly. For project A, I went back and
accepted changes from my final draft; I also fixed formatting errors and inconsistencies.
For project B, I did the same thing, but I converted the PDF to Word. For project C, I
copied and pasted information from the sites on Word. I edited the content on Word for
grammar and coherence then accepted a few changes. I then created a Childrens
literature website via Weebly, and then transferred the information on the site. I placed
the link to project C on my portfolio site. Project D, it was simple I accepted the changes
I made. While going over each document, I encountered some of the things the handbook
discussed: the bulleted list, spelling out numbers, and abbreviations.

I really enjoyed the class!
