Thompson, Mark. "Unlocking The Secrets Of PTSD." Time 185.12 (2015): 40-43. Academic
Search Premier. Web. 13 Feb. 2016.
Thompson goes into a more science approach of what exactly is PTSD. Many drugs that
work for certain people will not work for others. The solution that scientist came up with is to go
straight to the brain. The fear and anxiety circuits within the brain seem to be overly reactive
whenever there is a trigger to come up. Scientists cannot figure out why, but they are looking for
a reason. They believe if they can understand it on a chemical level then it will allow for better
treatment than therapy ever could. The consequence of not treating PTSD properly can lead to
substance abuse or worse so scientist would prefer get it down to an exact science. This article
will help me learn about PTSD scientifically and on a cellular level.

Watts, Bradley V., et al. "Understanding And Meeting Information Needs For Patients With
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder." BMC Psychiatry 16.(2016): 1-7. Academic Search
Premier. Web. 18 Feb. 2016.
Watts does a case study on one hundred PTSD patients all coming from different
backgrounds. This focused on the veterans with PTSD but still provides a lot of background for
how patients react to multiple types of methods. All patients were consulted also with how they
wanted to be treated. They wished to know what methods were being used and information about
the treatments being administered to them. The most preferred methods the patients said were the
most commonly used methods that therapists used. These methods were also the most effective

and most were helped as a result. This article will help me by giving me a real case study on
PTSD patients and show me what PTSD patients are like and prefer.
