Essential question: How does bullying affect student life and how do the victim's actions towards
others change?
Working thesis: Bullying has a negative effect on students and their actions towards others.
Refined thesis: Bullying in schools affects more than just students mental well-being, it affects
their actions towards others as well as their life as a whole.

The article Bullying Threatens Safety in Schools. discusses a persons story as
they faced bullying in their personal life. This articles has research from other schools
and research projects such as the University of Cape Town which talked about the
behavioral issues associated with bullying. The article says that isolation can lead to
anger problems as well as mental problems. This article is relevant to this research
because it shows the behavioral issues associated with bullying.

The article Bullying Is a Key Factor in Threats of Youth Violence. analyzes the
threats between bullying and schools. This article shows the views that school
administrators have between issues in bullying that affect their school systems. The
article shows that shoot shooting have been performed by people who are affected by
bullies in their lives. this article is relevant to this research because the statistic in the
article prove my thesis and the research that is don shows that school shootings have
relation to bullying.

The article Bullying Contributes to School Shootings. discusses the feeling of


bullies feeling like victims. Those who commit crimes such as school shootings often
also feel like victims. In this article it shows that the people who commit crimes are those
who have been victimized themselves by peers, spouses, or ex-spouses. Eric Harris and

Dylan Klebold wrote in their entries in diaries about feeling like the outcasts and they
were not invited to gatherings or contacted by their peers. This article is relevant to this
research because it discusses the other side of the story and how the bullies feel like
victims themselves.

In the article Student Bullying; Associations between Anti-Bullying Policy and
Bullying in 25 States. shows the correlation between federal anti-bullying policies and
those of the states. The state policies that followed at least one of the federal show that
less cases of bullying were shown. this article is relevant to this research because it show
statistics between federal and state anti-bullying policies implanted into schools.
