This document lists the professional development activities a teacher participated in between 2013 and 2016. It includes workshops on topics like self-regulated learning, communication, assessment for learning, special education, technology, aboriginal content, mathematics, outdoor learning, sexual health education, gender roles, project-based learning, memory and comprehension skills. Many of the workshops were provided by School District 79 and the BCTF to support new teachers in expanding their skills and knowledge.

This was a day put on by SD79. I did two workshops, the first on exploring selfregulated learning & executive functioning and the second on communication breakdown. [ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING] [APRIL 11, 2016] This was a workshop put on by SD 79. [BCTF NEW TEACHERS CONFERENCE] [FEBRUARY 26-27, 2016] Held in Richmond, this workshop offered a variety of workshops. Those that I attended included; Special Education- Whats it all about?, Building a personal technology profile, Social & Emotional Learning in Practice, Infusing Aboriginal Content and Special Education Teachers tool kits. [CAROLE FULLERTON WORKSHOPS (3)] [JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2016] This was a series of workshops based around mathematics in an elementary classroom, with a focus on inquiry based learning done out of Nanoose Bay Elementary with SD 69. [NORTHWEST MATHEMATICS CONFERENCE] [OCTOBER 22-24 2015] I participated in several workshops at this conference largely aimed at the primary-intermediate level. [O.U.R ECOVILLAGE PRO D] [OCTOBER 9 2015] This was a one day trip to the O.U.R Ecovillage in Shawinigan Lake to learn about outdoor learning, ways to teach it and incorporate it into the classroom. [KERRI ISHAM POWER UP WORKSHOPS (4)] [OCTOBER 2013-JANUARY 2015] Gender Roles, K-3 Sexual Health/Body Science Curriculum. 4-7 Sexual Health/Body Science Curriculum, 8-12 Sexual Health/Body Science Curriculum. The sexual health workshops focused on teaching students about their sexual health and showed us how to sensitively teach about sexual health based on their grade and age. Gender Roles was a workshop about the importance of and how to teach gender roles to children. [BCPTA CONFERENCE] [OCTOBER 2014] This one day conference was held in Victoria and I participated in several different workshops including; Project Based Learning & Genius Hour, Self Regulation for ALL students, and Boost Memory & Comprehension Skills [BCTF NEW TEACHERS CONFERENCE] [FEBRUARY 2014 - VANCOUVER, BC] This two day conference was a great opportunity for networking and expanding my learning. I took a variety of workshops at this conference aimed at all grade levels. Workshops included; Creativity in the classroom, Math can be fun, Web Based Tools for Teachers, Meeting the Needs of the 21st Century Learner, Assessment for Learning, and Science for Kinesthetic Learners [BCPTA CONFERENCE] [OCTOBER 2014] This one day conference was held in Victoria and I participated in several different workshops including; Project Based Learning & Genius Hour, Self Regulation for ALL students, and Boost Memory & Comprehension Skills [EVERYTHING IS ASSESSMENT] [FEBRUARY 2014, SD 79 DISTRICT PRO D] This workshop featured author and speaker Tom Schimmer. He discussed several strategies for assessment and we then broke into groups based on grade levels. [ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP] [NOVEMBER 2013 - PORT MCNEIL, BC] I participated in this workshop early in my schooling in hopes that it would help me in my practicums to better understand the progress of the students. It was a very valuable workshop that I took a lot of great ideas and information home from. It made it so that I was more confident in my assessment practices and able to try new ideas with my students.
