Scenario:
Sharpen those artistic writing skills!
A multicultural poetry magazine is hosting a poetry contest for students in grades 1-5. This
years theme is I am me! Your Spanish teacher and your Language Arts teacher want you to
enter. The grand prize is a published poem and $100,000. The requirements are:
The poem must be at least 6 sentences or phrases
At least 25 words
You must start with the given phrase (it doesnt count toward your totals above)
You must include at least 4 physical descriptions of yourself
You must include at least 3 personality characteristics of yourself
You must include at least 2 things you like to do.
In order to impress the judges, you can include anything else you can already say in Spanish.
Once your poem is written, you must turn it into a calligram. A calligram is a poem that is in
the shape of something else. Look at the example given (mine is a book!).
Your starting two lines must be: Yo soy yo. No hay nadie como yo.
If you need help, please ask for it. If you want to approve a format, please speak with Sra. Kreft. We will
work in class some, but you may need to work at home as well. The project is due _____________________.
