FERTILIZATION

BRANDON HPILLIP
5/5/16
FERTILIZATION-the action or process of fertilizing an egg, female animal, or
plant, involving the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote.

FORMATION OF SPERM?

The seminiferous tubules of the testes are the starting point for the
process, where stem cells adjacent to the inner tubule wall divide in a
centripetal directionbeginning at the walls and proceeding into the
innermost part, or lumento produce immature sperm. Maturation
occurs in the epididymis.

Puberty for boys

At the start of puberty you will notice hair growing around your penis,
under your arms, and on your face, chest, and legs. Your testicles and
penis are also growing. You may develop acne (pimples). Later in
puberty, you will begin to grow taller and your voice will start to change
and get lower.

Amount of sperm formed

roughly 250 million sperm, the tadpole-like cells that contain a mans
genetic heritage. Healthy men produce sperm at the prodigious rate of
about 60,000 every minute. But each individual sperm cell takes about
three months to grow.

Formation of ovum

Oogenesis is a process of ovum formation in the ovary. -In a foetus

ovary, there are a lot of Oogonium cells. -Each primary Oocyte is
surrounded by a layer of follicle cells which are called primary follicle.

Puberty for girls

The stage in the development of humans and other primates marked by

the development of secondary sex characteristics, including menarche
in females. In humans, puberty occurs at the onset of adolescence,
between the ages of about 11 and 14 in girls and 13 and 16 in boys.

Amount of sperm formed

Females form two million eggs and only 250 sperm enters the ovum.

Process of sperm travel

The ejaculation process begins as the penis fills with blood and becomes
erect. With sufficient stimulation, mature sperm travel from the
epididymis through the vas deferens, a muscular tube, which propels
sperm forward through smooth muscle contractions. The sperm arrive
first at the ampulla, where secretions from the seminal vesicle are
added. From the ampulla, seminal fluid is propelled forward through the
ejaculatory ducts toward the urethra, passing first by the prostate gland,
where a milky fluid is added to form semen. Finally, the semen is
ejaculated through the far end of the urethra.

Develop into a zygote then baby

The cells of the zygote divide repeatedly as the zygote moves down the
fallopian tube. The zygote enters the uterus in 3 to 5 days. In the uterus,
the cells continue to divide, becoming a hollow ball of cells called a
blastocyst. If fertilization does not occur, the egg moves down the
fallopian tube to the uterus, where it degenerates, and passes through
the uterus with the next menstrual period.
