OBJECTIVE
The objective to reach in this unit is to have students understand, identify and create
different sets of rhyming words.
ASSESSMENT /
EVALUATION
Students will show their ability to identify, understand, and create different sets of
rhyming words through practice worksheets, games, and by giving examples.
MATERIALS
Rhyming PowerPoint, Time Rhyme worksheet, Rhyming Dust Bunnies worksheet, and
Rhyming Bugs worksheet. We will also play a game by looking at objects in the room
and come up with a word that rhymes with one of the objects.

Day 1: Introduction to rhyming with the use of a PowerPoint, the Rhyming Dust Bunnies
worksheet, the Rhyming Bugs worksheet, the Time Rhyme worksheet, and a game that
involves coming up with a rhyming word for an object in the classroom.

During each lesson, Ill ask the students to create a set of rhyming words and explain

By the end of the day, the students should be able to identify, understand, and create
rhyming words.
CROSS-CURRICULAR CONNECTIONS
Ill have the students write sentences that includes at least one set of rhyming words.
NOTES:
I have a child that is an ESL student. When he comes back from his time with the ESL
teacher and the class, Ill have private lesson time with him and introduce him to the
concept of rhyming words.
