Day 1
Sponge Activity Student will participate in En la foto hay and use their
knowledge of the numbers to answers how many of an object is in the
picture.
Anticipatory Set - Ask students what is verb.
Activating Prior Knowledge Together as a class students will conjugate
and verb in English to show the steps involved to correctly conjugate a
verb.
Direct Instruction
1. Teach students what verb
2. In Spanish there are three types of verbs (-AR, -ER, -IR)
3. Infinitives are the basic form of a verb that is not bound by time,
finite forms are the verbs that are conjugated to fit in a certain time
(present past or future). A verb has two parts the stem and the
ending. A conjugated verb have an ending attached to the stem or
root of the verb.
4. Conjugated verbs have a subject
5. Subject Pronouns yo, t, l, ella, usted, nosotros-as, vosotros-as,
ellos, ellas, ustedes.
6. Explain the present tense
7. The corresponding ending in present tense o, -as, -a, amos, is,
-an
8. The steps to conjugating an AR verb
1. Locate subject or decide the subject
2. Take the infinitve and remove the ar from the stem
3. Add the correct ending based on the subject of the verb.
9. Show the students an example with the verb hablar.

10.Translate the conjugate hablar for the students so they can see what
it means in English.
11.Have students stand up to act out vocabulary that will be in the bag.
