To receive an elementary license, a person must hold a bachelors degree from an accredited college or
university and must have completed a program of preparation for teaching in the elementary grades
which is approved by the Board.
Substitute Teacher
Must possess or be able to acquire a Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada
Department of Education. They must hold an endorsement which is appropriate to the
special education placement
(i.e. K-12 Generalist Endorsement for Resource Room, Autism Endorsement for
Autism)
Reading Specialist
Must possess or be able to acquire a Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of
Education. They also must be certified in the relevant subject area.
Art Specialist
Must possess or be able to acquire a Nevada teaching license issued by the
Nevada Department of Education. They also must be certified in relevant subject
area.
Thirty-Six (36) semester credits in the principles of fine and applied arts which
included:
i. History of art
ii. Design
iii. Drawing
iv. Painting
v. Digital or graphic arts
vi. Ceramics or sculpture; and
vii. Photography or printmaking
Music Specialist
A Music Specialist must possess, or be able to acquire, a Nevada teaching license issued by the
Nevada Department of Education. They must also hold an endorsement in K-8 Music Education.
School Counselor
Must possess or be able to acquire a Nevada Counselors License issued by the Nevada Department of
Education.
School Psychologist
Must possess, or be able to acquire, a license endorsement as a school psychologist from the
Nevada Department of Education including:
a. Completion of a minimum of 60 graduate credits in identified areas of study for school
psychology;and
b. Completion of a full (1,000 hour minimum) supervised internship in school psychology; or,
c. Hold a certificate as a nationally certified school psychologist issued by the National
School
Psychology Certification System of the National Association of School Psychologists. They must
have a valid drivers license that allows the applicant/employee to legally operate an insured motor
vehicle in Nevada.
School Administrator
Hold a valid elementary, middle school/ junior high, secondary or special teaching license; and hold a masters degree. Have
completed three (3) years of teaching experience in accredited K-12 schools; and have completed at least twenty-four (24) semester
hours of graduate courses in the administration of a school, including course work in each of the following areas:Administration and
organization of a school; Supervision of instruction; Development of personnel; Finances of a school. The laws that apply to schools;.
Curriculum; Educational research; Hold a valid elementary, middle school/ junior high, secondary or special teaching license; and hold
a masters degree; and hold a valid elementary, middle school/ junior high, secondary or special teaching license; and Hold a masters
degree; and Have completed three (3) years of teaching experience in accredited K-12 schools; andHave completed at least twentyfour (24) semester hours of graduate courses in the administration of a school, including course work in each of the following
areas:Administration and organization of a school; Supervision of instruction; Development of personnel; Finances of a school; The
laws that apply to schools; Curriculum; Educational research Internship or field experience in school administration;Other courses
considered to be part of an administrative program for educators; and have completed an additional twelve (12) semester hours of
graduate courses which may include other courses considered to be part of an administrative program for educators, OR hold a
masters degree or higher in educational administration from a regionally accredited college or university. completed three (3) years of
teaching experience in accredited K-12 schools; and have completed at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of graduate courses in
the administration of a school, including course work in each of the following areas: Administration and organization of a
school;Supervision of instruction, Development of personnel; Finances of a school;
