What is VoiceUp?

VoiceUp is a Ted-talk styled public speaking event that aims to be a platform for people to express their
thoughts, opinions and feelings about topics and issues in our world, regardless of religion or prior
judgement. The setting of VoiceUp allows an individuals voice to heard to all in a manner which brings
them under the spotlight and makes them the most important person. Initially, VoiceUp was started by a
fellow student from Renaissance College, called Phipson Lee, who took initiatives such as an annual
VoiceUp events at the Renaissance College and Youth Summits around Hong Kong. Through this event,
we aim to develop public speaking interest in individuals, in a way, where they feel comfortable and are
allowed to speak their mind at all times.
When is the annual VoiceUp event?
To continue our success in VoiceUp, we aim to host two annual VoiceUp events, which targets two
different age groups. The date for these events is set tentatively at the following dates:

May 12 th, Wednesday
May 13th, Thursday
Event Dates
May 18th Wednesday
May 19th, Thursday
The junior event:
At Voiceup, we aim to give opportunities for teenagers and young adults from all ages to learn. Henceforth
the junior event is a new event aimed for students from year 5 to year 9, held from around 4 - 5:30 PM.
The setup for the junior event will be from 3:10-4 PM on the day, set in the Renaissance College Black Box
Theatre. Speakers will be Y5 and up for this event, and it will be held on May 19th, Wednesday.

The senior event:


The date set for the senior event is tentatively set on May 20th, Thursday, and targeted at those Year 9 and
above. Tickets will be sold as a means of publicizing and a guideline of the amount of people attending. It
will be held at the black box theatre, with the setup and time being the same as the junior event.

More perceptive approach to problems in the world
Understanding failure isn't always the problem holding you back from success

40 people for the senior event
Rehearsal dates:
Before the actual event, we plan on booking the venue of the junior and senior event for rehearsals so we
can ensure that the actual event can go smoothly. The dates tentatively set are: May 12th and 13th, based
on the same time and schedule as the actual planned events.
Funding:
Funding for this event will be covered by the organizing members, and/or partially-covered by RAPT or
SPARC.
Roles for the event:
Ushers to help direct those attending towards the venue
Set-up crew to help put chairs up, etc
The Colonial Studios to be employed in filming and promotional methods for the future. They will
create a trailer from the rehearsal dates and stills will be taken
Ask Black Chambers could also be used to create
