WTS 9: Teachers are able to evaluate themselves

Following is an outside meeting report that was developed for my Practicum class.
This report focuses how parents from all over the world raise their children.
I placed this report in the category of Professionalism & Advocacy since my report
clearly states my understanding that parents around the world raise their children in
different ways. This also demonstrates my understanding that children come from
different cultures and that you need to respect them for how they were raised and
not to be judgmental.
This standard relates to NAEYC Teaching Standard 5 and Wisconsin Teaching
Standard #9. These standards demonstrate that teachers understand that children
come from different parts of the world and that they are not to be judgmental on
how the child was raised.
While watching the movie Babies I learned how parents from around the world raise
their children. I learned that in the movie some of the parents raise their children
due to cultural reasons and you need to be respectful of that. I plan on using this in
my teaching by teaching the children that other children around the world do
certain things in a different way. I also plan on using this to explain to the child that
is it ok to be different from everyone else.
