Dear George,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to share with you my thoughts on English
150 and reflect on the compositions I have worked on this semester. I hope that by the end of the
letter you will get a clear idea on how I have improved my writing skills, areas I need
improvement on, and how I plan to use what I learned in the future.
English 150 has impacted my writing skills in quite a few ways. Throughout the semester
I have learned new techniques that will be beneficial to me in the future. I was able to learn how
to better my writing techniques and incorporate other methods in my writing. I was also able to
challenge myself with the compositions that were assigned in class. There were other
assignments I had no idea where to begin even begin, but was able to compose them by starting
off with an outline and getting feedback in class from my peers.
I have always done a better job when it comes to speaking in front of a group. There are
some things I could work on to better my presentation skills. For assignment five, I had to
present my brochure on the Border Crossing sculpture on campus. I could work on the
movements I give while presenting. One way I could fix this would be by not moving as much
while presenting, that way I wont present in an awkward position. This will help me with other
presentations that I have to give in future classes and in my career.
Writing has never been my forte; however, my writing abilities have improved
immensely these past four years. I have struggled with grammar and my word choice when it
comes to writing any essay. Although I have been able to take feedback from both you and my
classmates to help me write better essays. There have been some essays, for example in

assignment 3, to figure out who my audience is and to learn how to write without using I
statements. It has been hard, but it is a good method to learn since I will have to write papers like
this in the future.
There have been many helpful strategies that I plan on taking from this class and plan to
apply to future classes along with my professional career. When writing I plan on identifying
who my audience is first, since that was something I mainly struggled with in some of my
essays. I will also try to better improve my presentations by trying not to speed through them and
have a clearer outline of the key points I will present. I will also use my previous assignments as
resources for my future assignments because the comments I received were very helpful.
I hope that you have learned more about my thoughts on the compositions I have written
this past semester. Also, I hope you have a better idea on how exactly my writing skills have
improved and how I will apply what I learned in class to compositions in the future.
