The evolution of the event sector in society and its impact on companies

An event is something that you want to celebrate. It can be something which makes you
happy or not but in every case it starts from a good intention. As Friedman and Scholnick
developped in their studies, when people list the characteristics that make us distinctively human,
one characteritic that comes to mind is the ability to plan and thereby to overcome the impulse to
respond to the immediate situation . There many different types of events. In a first place, there are
weddings which are the most famous all around the world because everyone dreams to get married
one day. Then, we have sports events, campaign for products, expositions of art, and others.
Societies and desires of the population are constantly changing. It indirectly means that
today, companies have to adapt their strategy on the market to these variations. To go further, those
variations are also different depending on the country where you want to run your event which is a
difficulty to take into account. Companies are more and more to take assistance from event
companies to organise their events. Mostly, it is for private parties, to launch a product on the
market, to make their advertise and things like that. It is not something that everyone is aware of. It
is just something happening inside of the society. However it has diverse impacts on those
companies and on the society.
Nowadays, the event sector represent a lot of significant day for different people from
different countries and cultures. At the beginning, it was completely different. People were used to
celebrate the most important days of their life, like Silvers and Goldblatt revealed in their
researches. For those men, our shared humanity is built around ritual in conjunction with the
milestones of life birth, rights of passage, marriage, the change of seasons, anniversaries, death
and the worship of idols, gods and celebrities. The way we celebrate helps to tell us who we are,
both intimately and publicly . At first, it was something to share with your family. Now, it is
something to share with friends, colleagues, even your boss if it is a company's party.
Running an event is not so easy that it seems to be. It includes a good organisation from the
event planner in charge, a good communication with its clients, and takes some risks in a way that
things are going wrong. It is a huge responsability towards the company it represents, but also to the
the society because as we all know, companies are essentials to its well-being. As Wates
mentionned, whatever the event you are running, make it with other people improve your
confidence, capabilities, skills and ability to co-operate. This enable them to tackle other
challenges, both individually and collectively . When employees feel the same way you can be
sure that it will have a positive impact on the company like making profits or simply make people
happy which has effectively good repercussions on the society.
Regarding events from individuals like a couple who would like to get married, a main
challenge that the industry faces is to match the budget set by the client and their expectations.
When that match is not achieved, it is the job of the event planner to either meet the expectations or
find concessions with the client. Communication with the client is of paramount importance to gain
their loyalty, and for the good progress of the event . Grondin is totally right. The clients chosen
you because of your ability to respond to their demand, if you just can not, then your professional
reputation respecting to your event company will be bad and clients can ask to be refunded. In the
worst case individuals or companies can make you a trial.
Even if the event sector is official in societies since a couple of decades, it always has been
present all over the world with traditional celebrations we saw previously. Events are not only
practiced in Europe like in France, but also and particularly in the United States of America. People

of upper class are used to organise donation's party for diverse associations in a way to favorise the
situation of disabled people or people in need. It is very popular and it allows them to reach millions
of dollars for those foundations. Herstein has made a report on the way we have to see sports event.
For him, the prospective hosts of mega or international sports events must ensure that people all
over the world see their city as a leisure, tourism and consumption center and not just a sports
arena . Sports events and like others are a means to be known regarding a city or a country and not
only the players like in football.
The majority of companies are employing an event planner to make an add to launch their
products on the market. When it is successful, which means that people are consuming the product,
both companies are making profits. As consequencies, society is healthier. However if the project is
a failure, then both companies have to find a way to handle it in a way to not have too much
problems. Usually, events are running good do not worry. According to Getz, Bringing together
people through planned events is said to make societies healthier, smarter, wealthier and fairer,
greener, safer and stronger . Actually, he denunced a real problem that companies have to solve
which is the impact on environment. Thinks to innovations, natural treatment and others, people and
nature well-being is better than we expected for the coming years. Events companies are more
succesful by promoting products environmentally friendly and preserve a good image. Not only a
reputation of people organising parties.
In the business world, we all have concurrents. More generally, it can be someone with
better qualifications than you, someone prettier in everyday life, or in this case a competitive
company which exercise the same profession. Obviously event companies have concurrents which
means that they are in danger. If the organisation does not want to close then it has to offer
something different than the other. It can be low prices, different prestations, a large choice of event
to run, etc. Even it can make a difference for the client, all they need is find someone to respond
correctly to their desires. Today societies have evolved and they are more connected, specially with
the apparition of Internet. It can be a huge threat for organisations because with this kind of tools,
people can create their events by their own through web sites for free. However, like Goldblatt
confirm it, as internet use becomes increasingly common, web sites have become essential
attributes for event companies, which are utilizing new internet tools. Those web sites are using
like Facebook to share an event. It is just to inform people about an event coming. Internet will
definitly not prevent event companies from running but, on the contrary, it improves their
development and make them more efficient.
As a study conducted by Wates and Thompson, twelve years ago most of our Community
Planning Events were organized for public sector clients. Since then we have demonstrated that
they can be very worthwhile for the private sector too . It is a very court period to developp a
sector compared to others like in Industry. If the Event sector has been growing up as quickly, then
you can imagine that it is not ready to end. An other research by Kilkenny show that in every
organization, association, institution, or a production company, there are events in the process of
being well thought out every day. It is a never-ending cycle . Nowadays, events are running
everywhere all around the world. Most of them are cultural events but with the evolution of
societies, mentalities and way of life, everything that makes you happy is a reason to celebrate.
Companies are not always specialized in event organisation which as a result conduct them
to employ an event planner. Even if it has a cost, it is a little sacrifice to obtain a real gain by
advertising or celebrating a product or a service. It is the best way to sell and be competitive on the
market. Both event planner and its employer are making profits and enjoying a good reputation
which will be known all over the world. Events had permitted to societies to become wealthier. The
events we all know today have maybe took a couple of decades to grow up, but now it is a certitude
that it will never ending. It is a business adapted to the morals of the 21st century.
