students would have knowledge of basic passing skills
and basic defence skills.

LESSON PROGRESSION

Motivation and Introduction: Hello class, today we will be continuing our touch rugby program. We
will be working on the role of a dummy half.

Get students to set up to playing areas for the warm up, have 2 students grab the 8 cones for each
corner of the fields and 1 player from each field to grab a ball

Explain the rules of the game, winners of the game are taggers for the next.

Set Up: Keep the class divided for this drill. Give 3 balls to both groups. 1 cone for the students to put in place
for the dummy half pass point (1 each group) and 2 cones to set up as the tri line.
Explanation: Explain the drill and key teaching points with a demonstration. Explain that A dummy half pass is
for when there is a tag and that the dummy half cannot be tagged by the opposing team or the ball will be
turned over.

Equipment: 3 balls, 24 cones for the try lines.
Explanation: Get students into groups before explaining the drill and key teaching points with a demonstration.
Explain that they need to focus on passing the ball with the key points that were explained through the whole
lesson. Students will need to umpire themselves.

Next lesson will be our 4th lesson in our 5 week touch program and moving onto defensive structure
You need to come prepared with a water bottle and hat. If you have a whistle at home also bring it as we will be
umpiring games like we did today.

The students will be assessed through informal assessment during the lesson. The teacher will observe the
students attempting the various objectives. These will be formally assessed through an observational checklist
during the tournament in the last week.
