Annotated Bibliography
1. Spanberg, Erik. "Councils Back $34M for Charlotte Hornets' Arena." N.p., 9 Sept.
2014. Web. 13 Mar. 2016.
This source discussed how the Charlotte Hornets arena is getting renovated for $34
million dollars and how the local government should help maintain the maintenance. It also
states that the city does not receive any rent or profit shares from the building since the Hornets
leased it. I think that my group could use this source to show how the arena goes through
renovations that cost millions of dollars.
The author, Erik works for Charlotte Business Journal covering topics such as the
government, sports business, hospitality, and the airlines. I believe that his credibility would not
be questioned based on his reputation in the journalism and I am pretty sure that he is
trustworthy as well as doing thorough research on the topics that he writes about.
2. "Hornets Introduce New Scoreboard Design." N.p., 24 Feb. 2016. Web. 13 Mar.
2016. < http://www.nba.com/hornets/hornets-introduce-new-scoreboard-design >.
The source discussed how the Charlotte Hornets will receive a new scoreboard this year
in July. It also gives measurements of the scoreboard like it being 16-ft long by 24-in wide and
how it will have 1080 HP video quality which will give the viewers a chance to see the games
better. I think that we could use this source in a sense of how they want decisions in remodeling
or building new things in the Time Warner Cable Arena like for example, the Hornets Sports and
Entertainment president and COO, also known as, chief operating officer stated that, A
scoreboard is the focal point of patrons in an arena game experience but one that clearly featured
our Hornets DNA. Like our court, when people see this scoreboard, they will have no doubt that
it is part of the home of the Hornets.

I believe that the source could be useful to the group because they want to have things in
the arena that only show better quality or makes the arena look better but also to make the
patrons in the arena feels like they are a part of the teams family. There is no specific author
listed but it is from the NBA website and I think that they have credibility based on being a key
component behind basketball and selling sports products. I do not believe that they would put out
false statements or any article without facts. As stated before, their reputation is high because
they are a big part of the national basketball.
3. "Time Warner Cable Arena Parking." N.p., n.d. Web. 13 Mar. 2016.
The source shows the upcoming dates for games, concerts, and events and the starting
price of parking. The strength of the source is that it gives a price range for parking but the
weaknesses is that it only gives two locations when there is more than two parking lots in
Uptown Charlotte. It will help our project because parking is a key component when it comes to
the arena and how parking can be a lot to handle so the spaces go fast at a cheaper rate. We could
do a chart to compare the difference in parking at a game versus a concert or is it the same. There
is no author for this source because it is just a list of parking for the Time Warner Cable Arena
and I think this website is credible since it gives accurate information and they give a little
information on the arena. I am not sure about their reputation since I have not heard about the
ParkWhiz before but it could be that we only see parking in certain areas and go there without
knowing who is behind it.
4. "Charlotte Arena Quick Facts." N.p., 2014. Web.
The source gives information about the arena and the employees. It gives information that
you would need to know like who made the arena, what architecture company or designer was a

part of the building, and who is the arena of the building which is some of the questions asked by
our classmates. I think our group could really use this source because it gives a lot of factual
evidence with specific names for the questions that many people have.
There is no author for this source since it was on the Bobcats old website but it could still
be used as a reference. I think the credibility of this source is important since a person who
works at the arena, most likely put this together as a source of information for the residents in
Charlotte to view. It also gave background information about the building which is very valuable
when it comes to why it was chosen out of all the old buildings in Charlotte. However, I think
using the source will be beneficial for the group and the project.
5. Spanberg, Erik. "Charlotte to Follow Denver as Host City of Democratic National
Convention." N.p., 1 Feb. 2011. Web. 13 Mar. 2016.
This source is about the city of Charlotte hosting the democratic national convention like
Denver, Colorado. Also, it states that the city could see an economic growth of $150 to $200
million dollar. I do not think that the group will use this source because we talk about the arena
but it focuses mainly on the democratic convention and how it would affect Charlotte. However,
we could use some of the facts stated in the article and include them into our PowerPoint.
Now, I think
our group would have to decide if we wanted to include this article as a source or not based on
what we want to focus more on when it comes to the arena with events.

6. "Time Warner Cable Arena." N.p., n.d. Web. 2013.

This source is a screenshot of the Time Warner Cable Arena Wikipedia page. I think this
source will be useful because it includes specific details such as the name change from Bobcat
Arena to Time Warner Cable to when the Hornets took over for the Bobcats. There is also
discussion on some of the events held at the arena like concerts, basketball games, and hockey
games too. My group could use the source as an example of some of the events previously held
there at the arena and if any of the events were held again the next year.
There is no author but I believe that the information is credible because most of the
Wikipedia pages made have reference pages for them so it means that someone did research on
this topic. I think it would be a great source for the group to use since there is a list of events that
could be put into the categories of concerts, sports events, and etc.
7. Kiser, B. "Hornets Unveil Design for New $7 Million Scoreboard, Rave about Its
Unique Features." N.p., 24 Feb. 2016. Web. 13 Mar. 2016.
This source gives details about the new scoreboard being placed in the Time Warner
Cable Arena in mid-July for 6 weeks at a budget of $7 million dollars. It discusses the size length
and how it will be a great attribute to the arena since fans will have a better chance of seeing the
game. I think we could use this source in comparison to another source similar to this one but
there is a difference in the budget price. We could compare what information is the same and
what information is different which could show if it is accurate from the specific website.
The author, Bill seems like he has some credibility because he wrote the article in the
Charlotte Observer but based on the information from the previous article on the NBA website,
some of the information was different, such as the budget cost. It may have been a

misunderstanding or inaccurate information from the start so his credibility on this topic could be
challenged by others. I would use this source to compare with the article similar to this one to
gather information that is exactly the same.
