Weekly Writing 5 - Review of The Pitch
I have found that, for the most part, my pitch for the multimodal project and the final
product were pretty similar to each other. The biggest component of my project that I changed
was the actual format. In my proposal, I said that I was going to create an infographic that
mapped the factors that led to Hitlers rise to power. I started out doing this, but midway
through the process I chose to create a Prezi. I did this because the infographic websites that I
looked at looked pretty boring, and I wanted something that was more appealing to my viewers. I
also considered making a PowerPoint, but I finally decided on a Prezi because I felt that doing so
would simply make my information look more interesting. I also found it a lot easier to create a
Prezi than an infographic. While creating the Prezi, I found it a lot easier to navigate the site and
rearrange my information in a logical order. Overall, Im glad that I made the decision to use
Prezi.
I planned to include a visual component in my infographic to fulfill the multimodal
requirement of the project. I ended up linking a video of one of Hitlers speeches into my project
in order to meet this requirement. I felt that the video clip that I included did a good job of
demonstrating how energetic and charismatic Hitlers speeches were, and show how Hitler could
have influenced the Germans who were already dissatisfied with the government and convinced
them to follow him.

In the pitch I wrote for my multimodal project, I wrote about what components of Hitlers
rise to power I planned on researching. Ive found that I stuck pretty closely to this plan. I did
research on the Treaty of Versailles and how it signified the end of the war between Germany and
the Allied Powers. I planned on researching the Weimar Republic, including what exactly it was
and the problems with it that caused it to fail. I did this, and I actually found a lot more on the
Weimar Republic than I expected. Rather than researching Nazi propaganda, I researched what
Hitler did after he became Fuhrer. I found information on Hitler and the beginning of World War
II, such as the annexation of Austria and the invasion of Poland, which is widely thought of as
the beginning of World War II. In my project pitch, I said that I wanted to learn about how the
fall of the Weimar Republic led to the emergence of fascism in Germany. This was wrong Hitler is often seen as the face of fascism, but he was the leader of the Nazi Party, also called the
National Socialist German Workers Party.
I also followed along pretty closely with what I planned on using to fulfill my source
requirements. I used information from the Treaty of Versailles and one of Hitlers speeches as my
primary sources. I got scholarly articles from JSTOR, and I also used a video clip on Hitler and
chapters from books on his rise to power. I found a lot of information on the Weimar Republic
from several of the books I looked at on the subject.
As I look at my pitch with more experienced eyes, I feel that I had a pretty realistic
picture of what I wanted to accomplish with my project. I achieved everything I wanted to do,
with a few minor tweaks in regards to formatting and making things flow. I think I did quality
work and gained a good amount of knowledge from researching and finding sources. Completing
this project taught me a lot about how Hitler was able to smooth talk disenfranchised Germans
into following him and not questioning his decisions.
