Keepin It REAL Randomized Control Trial


Sample Size = 432 middle school students in Guadalajara, Mexico
Intervention: one trial group, one control group exposed to refusal methods in classroom
environment
Statistics reported a decrease in use of tobacco and alcohol in trial group compared to control
group

Evaluation of Intervention
Pre- and post- survey to measure understanding
Increase from six preteens who didnt know side effects to nine
who did
Increase from two preteens who didnt know who to talk to if doing
drugs to nine who did

Follow-up interview with supervisor of recreation


center
