The short film that serves as the music video for Japanese indie rock group

Lucky Tracks Moon is a brief but delightful picture that outlies a very vague tale
centered on the idea of longing. Focusing on a young girl who is seemingly
obsessed with the moon in every way but looking at it directly, she is constantly
presented to be gazing at something moon-like with little to no emotion. This takes
up a majority of the short, this gazing, but it surprisingly easy to watch. This is
thanks to the beautiful cinematics the short sports, with every pan sliding into the
next shot delectably. The usage of light throughout the film is brilliant, and captures
the loneliness of the girl in a big city set consistently behind a cold Tokyo backdrop.
Meanwhile, constant imagery of the bright moon balanced with the young and
longing girl is very powerful, and is an exemplification of show-dont-tell. Through
the gaze of the girl alone, a story of desire is told. This fits the easy going soft tone
of the song whose lyrics are also ones of longing. There is a sense of liberation to
feel seeing the girl finally show tangible emotion when you see the reflection of the
true moon in her eyes, shining brightly. Though there is no dialogue or definitive
story, the emotional performance to be interpreted is an effective and powerful one.
One that will wonder as you try to piece together the broken silent protagonist.
