Chapter 1: {Creating a Student-Centered

Classroom}
Description (Student-Centered):
The teacher allow students to share in decisions, believing in their capacity
to lead the lesson. Its also encourage students to learn more about how
does student-centered work. In student-centered student are the ownership
of the classroom and the way of the learning by giving some ideas about how
do they want to learn, answering questions, and explaining their thoughts.
Its shift the focus from teacher to the students. Students also have choices
and options for projects, and assignments. Also the student should be the
one who go and find facts about the lesson.

Example (TP):
This is my example about Student-Centered Classroom on my last TP. The
teacher wanted to teach her student how to use the learning program that
she put it for them on the iPad, so she picked 3 students and teach them how
to use the program then she separate the students into three groups and
asked the 3 students that she teach them to help and teach their classmates
how to use the program.

Reflection:
I think that student-centered classroom is the best way to learn something
and understand it better, I agree with what Piaget had said that Student
learn by doing. For the example above and what the teacher did with her
students I like her way how she make it a student-centered and how she pick
3 student and teach them first, but I prefer if she pick more students

because I dont think that one child can teach like 5 students by his/her own,
if I was her Ill choose more students to teach the others, also her way went
very well because she and I helped them little to manage the students
behavior so they will lesson to their classmates.

Chapter 2: {Engorging Positive Students

Behavior}
Description (Positive behavior):
Most students need to feel safe and comfort on their classrooms. Teachers
need to have enough order that students do not intimidate, bully, insult, or
overly criticize each other. Teachers should treat all their students on the
same way and not to prefer one over another because if they do that,
students trust in the teacher will declines. Teachers should have the ability to
make their students trust them and feel secure. Students at all ages have a
strong need to belong to groups. The desire to fit in provides a major source
of motivation and challenges to school rules.

Example (TP):
On this semester on this TP at the Australian International School, I noticed
that my teacher always wanted to make her students feel safe and comfort.
On the morning when they come to the class she hugs them one by one and
ask them how they feel, and when someone misbehave she dont shout at
him/her, she tell them this is wrong or dont do that in nice way, and by this
way they will listen to her because I know that children never listen to
anyone shout at them because they dont like it. She always respect them,
supports them, and praising them. When the parents come to take their
child, the teacher always kiss them on the cheek and hug them.

Reflection:
Smiling is the best way to win someone hearts and to win the child you
should always talk to them, listen to what they want to said and give them
comments on it, keep smiling because children can feel if your interesting to
what they said or not. I like the teacher way and I think its good enough to
win the students hearts and Ill be happy to follow her way in the future.

Chapter 3: {Catering to different student

learning styles}
Description (Learning Styles):
Learning styles can be defined, classified, and identified in many different
way, and Keefe (1979) defines learning styles as the composite of
characteristic cognitive, affective, and physiological factors that serve as
relatively stable indicators of how a learner perceives, interacts with, and
responds to the learning environment. Students learn in different ways,
active and reflective way. So the teacher must use different way of teaching
like giving them some activities, groups work, examples, worksheets, also a
small exam to know if they understand the lessons or not and there can also
be many ways. Each learner has distinct and consistent preferred ways of
perception, organization and retention. These learning styles are
characteristic cognitive, affective, and physiological behaviors that serve as
pretty good indicators of how learners perceive, interact with, and respond to
the learning environment. Learning does not follow that we all learn in the
same way but we also cant just learn best by using our style of learning, its
always better if we have one or more learning styles from others.

Example (TP):
On semester one when I was on TP the class that I was with
were taking about numbers more, less and equal. The
teacher used different learning styles like songs, activities,
following the dots, taking them outside to extend more in the
lesson, at the end she ask them few questions, giving them a
worksheets and homework to do.

Reflection:
I like the way that the teacher give them the lesson and how she did make
sure that they understand it. I think that using different learning styles are
really helpful for the student. Also the teacher use the 5es on her teaching
like at the beginning she engage putting for them a songs, let them explore
by doing some activities, then the students explain for her why did they
thought this side is more/ less and equal, she take them outside to count
things and she did ask them how many sisters/ brothers do you have, she let
them see which one of them had more sisters/ brothers. At the end she did
evaluate them by asking them some questions and to give her things that is
more or less than the others.

Chapter 4: {Lesson Planning}

Description (Lesson Planning):
Planning for lesson is very important, its like description of the course that
will be taken. It help the teacher to guide class learning, to measure how
she/he will reach the goal, and to know what to do in class, safe time, and
executing the lesson. Lesson plan is the teachers guide for running a
particular lesson. Using the 5 Es in teaching is important for the teacher and
the students to be able to understand more information about the lesson.

Engage: is to make students feel interesting and excited about the

lesson.

Explore: after making the students involved they will be able to build
their own understanding by exploring.
Explain: is the part were the students explain what did they do and
why they did it in this way, and tell what did they figure out.
Extend/ elaborate: students will have new information and new
knowledge, to continue exploring.
Evaluate: is where the teacher ask students questions and the student
will show how much learning and understanding did they take.

Example (Collage):
On this semester we had a science lesson
about leaves with Mr. Basel so he used the
5Es in this lesson, when first he put for us a
song about the leaves that it had different
colors, sizes, and different shapes. Then he
let us explore by taking us outside and ask
us to find five different leaves but most of
us find more than ten, when we back to
class he ask us to make a chart about it
including the colors of the leaves, drawing the shape of it, what does it smell
like, the texture and the size of it is it long or short. He ask us to explain why
we divided it on that way. At the end he ask us few questions like what new
definitions did we take and how much information had taken place in our
minds.

Reflection:
For sure I loved the way that he teach us this lesson, instead of setting on
our chairs he make us move outside, enjoy the lesson and take our time to
explore things around us. By using the 5Es he make the lesson way more
interesting, we didnt get bored, we wanted to learn more about it. In future
Ill make sure to use the 5Es in each lesson I give to my students.

Chapter 5: {Managing Classroom Routines &

Transitions}
Description (Routines & Transitions):

Routine is an everyday activities done by any person, sometimes its done at

specific time. Teachers have to make the students used to this daily things
that they do. Transition is moving from place to another or between setting,
any kinds of change that may alter the routines that the children, and
sometimes the adults, are used to. Teacher should support and make the
students understand it, everyone will feel comfortable using the transitions.

Example (TP):
Teachers always use transitions and routines in the class. This semester on
my TP the usual routine is when the students start to arrive they begin doing
their small activities or complete things that they didnt do with the teacher
last day, then its time to clean up, the teacher start playing the song and
they started to clean. When they finish they set on the matt and its kind of
transition from activities area to the matt. After that the teacher take the
attendance, start the lesson with some morning songs, then what will they
do on that day. After one hour or less she ask the students to take of their
shoes then line up outside to go to the library, lining up is transition to from
place to another from the class to the library. Moreover she does the same
thing each Monday and use transitions a lot.

Reflection:
I think that using transitions and routines is very important at schools,
because it will make teaching easier and soon as the students get used to it,
teacher will not waste so much time to get them learn the transitions and the
routines. In future I will make sure that I will use both transitions and
routines.

Chapter 6: {Preforming the Roles and Duties

of a Teacher}

Description (Roles & Duties):

Roles and duties is so much important for the teachers to know. Teachers
roles is responsibility that she/he believes that they should do like, smiling,
motivate the students, to be professional, respectful, understanding, to know
how to deal with misbehaviors, to be patience and more. Teacher duties is
the things thats they should do for students like, planning for the lesson, be
able to provide the information, evaluate students and assess them, must
create worksheets and activities, make sure that their students are safe,
communicate with students and their parents, and there is more duties that
the teachers should do.

Example (TP):
On my first TP I have seemed a lots of rules and duties that MST did like, at
the morning she always stand next to her class at the assembly, then when
she begin the lesson she make sure that all the students understand the
lesson, give them worksheets and activities to do. She always try to provide
the information for them in easy and simply way. Always prepared for the
lesson. She is always smiling even if a child misbehave, always make her
students excited about the lesson, respectful for others, try to understand
her students and others, always aware of showing the right and the wrong,
there are more things she did also.

Reflection:
I know that all of the rules and duties of the teachers are very important for
me, to make me a good and a professional teacher, and I will make sure to
use most of them. I liked my teacher way that make her a good teacher. I
think patience is the most important thing of being a teacher.

Chapter 7: {Reflective Statement}

I learned so many things on this course Learning Teaching Contemporary,
and I think its the most important course because what we want to learn is
what things should the teachers should know, and shouldnt do. I learned
that teachers must be creative, smile all the time, and always be patience,
what attitudes should teachers have, personality, what make us a good
teacher, what things we should work on, what tasks we have to do. In this
course we took Student-centered pedagogy, Learning Styles, Lesson
Planning, Encouraging positive behavior, Roles and Duties of Teachers,
Routines and Transitions
The most topics that I have learned from is {Learning styles & roles and
duties of teachers}. Because I need to know what I should do when I become
a teacher and this two affect me the most. Actually all the lessons we took in
this course are really very important and I would like to learn more about
teachers.
