OCTOBER 2015-NOVEMBER 2015 (6 WEEKS)

Developed lessons that met student needs in a variety of ways through teaching Grade 10
applied, Grade 11/12 Workplace, and Grade 12 Applied English classes. Used differentiated
instruction and monitored student progress through the development and implementation of
a unit plan on a novel study. Worked closely with students who had IEPs by supporting their
needs using a variety of methods such as scribing, assisted reading, and alternative
instruction. Assessed student learning in connection to the literacy test as well as course
work and grades. Attended a staff meeting, parent-teacher interviews, Coffee House and
assisted in supervising a Halloween dance.
TEACHER CANDIDATE ARMOUR HEIGHTS PUBLIC SCHOOL
SEPTEMBER 2013- NOVEMBER 2013 (15 DAYS)

Developed and implemented lesson plans in History, English, Health and Fitness, and Math.
Worked closely with students with IEPs in supporting their learning needs. Attended a PD
day within the school working on Professional Development on a team with other teachers.
TEACHER CANDIDATE BRUCE PENINSULA DISTRICT SCHOOL
MAY 2013 (3 WEEKS)

Employed different modes of teaching to meet the needs of a grade 9 boys gym class,
teaching lessons in health and fitness as well as running games and exercise time.
Incorporated proper outdoor education skills needed for an 8 day expedition in a provincial
park into the classroom. Helped to facilitate proper canoe practices, packing skills, and
theoretical knowledge around going into the wilderness for a long period of time. Assisted in
leading an 8 day canoe trip into Algonquin Park with approximately 20 grade 10 students,
helping with safety and behavior management to ensure the trip ran smoothly.

MAY 2015-JUNE 2015

Spent days filling in the position of the EA who was away fulfilling their usual duties such as
assisting students with special education needs both inside and outside the classroom.

SENIOR DON TRENT UNIVERSITY


AUGUST 2014-MAY 2015

As a Senior Don I was a collaborative supervisor of a Don team consisting of 8 Dons, as


well as managed a community of about 50 residents. During this time I provided academic
and organizational supports for students as well as supporting them in learning about
organization and team work. I practiced confidentiality, sensitivity, active listening and
problem-solving skills with regards to sensitive issues involving first year students and
student dons.

LEAD REBOUND GUIDE TRENT UNIVERSITY


OCTOBER 2013-MAY 2014

Assisted struggling first year students through one-on-one meetings with time management,
study skills, and referrals to resources on campus. Maintained proper paperwork and
documentation of student progress and respected confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
Demonstrated active listening skills and recognizing issues that may impact their academics
through gaining an understanding of students to better assist their learning. Also supervised
a team of 3 Rebound Guides through organizing team meetings as well as individual
support to ensure their students were being properly cared for as well.

Refined my skills in organization and teamwork by incorporating working with a Don team
and supporting student needs into my academic career. Practiced organizing group events

the importance of responsibility and reliability by participating in on-call shifts, attending Don
Meetings and being available to students. Developed meaningful relationships while
maintaining professionalism with first year students.

Was paired with a student and wrote monthly letters back and forth to encourage proper
literacy and reading skills. Also met up during the two Pen Pal days during the school year
spending time in person with the students and making stronger connections with them.
