developed with it.

Exploring on possible
activities to develop scientific
skills and concepts using
these materials

Magnifying glasses make

things look bigger.

Explore the details of some

rocks and objects.

We can see all the small details

of an object or part of the body
using a magnifying glass.

Search for some insects or

items in the sand area.

When we look through a

magnifying glass our eye looks
bigger.
Sand tray

Students explore what is in

sand.
Develop fine motor skills.
Students learn the change of
status (dry-wet).
Students explore the properties
of sand.
Students feel different

The teacher can hide some

items in the sand and
students search for them.
Students create creations

Plants

Learn the differences between

glass, metal, plastic and their
properties.
Know what can be recycled.
Know the objects that be
broken
.

Understand the relationship

between living things and their
environments.
Understand the life cycle of a
plant.
Understand the basic needs of
plants.
Understand the properties of
the plants.

Classify the objects according

to their properties.
Recycle objects and create
useful creations.

Each student takes care of his

plant daily.
Describe the plants and their
properties.

Using inquiry approach to teach scientific concepts

The teacher implements the 5Es whenever she is teaching. Sometimes she
doesnt apply them all; it depends on the kind of the lesson she is giving. But
in each science lesson, she starts by engaging the students and explaining
the concept to them. After that, she gives them the time to explore. And by
the end, she makes sure to evaluate their understanding to make sure that
the lesson was well understood by the children.

Answer the following questions:

class.

Which learning styles did all the children seem to enjoy and
why?

-Kinesthetic, Children, like to move. They like physical activities more than
staying still for a long time. They feel more excited when they get the chance
to do an activity that is hands-on and has a lot of physical movement in it
instead of a Visual or Auditory activity.

Why do you think the teacher incorporates a variety of

learning styles for the children?

-Not all children share the same way of understanding or learning. The
teacher varies the methods to make sure that the students are getting the
information in more than one way. By doing that, children will understand
better instead of having all of the materials that they need to study by
listening to them. If the teacher gives the lesson orally, students will be
bored. They will not understand anything in the school.

Notice which activities are repeated with a variety of learning

styles e.g. read a story, listen to a story, act the story, and
draw the story. Can you find other examples e.g. math or
science

-In math: counting: They count the times they do their exercises, Count the
number of absent students, and Count the students after the playtime. Count
while clapping with the teacher.

How can teachers improve student learning by using a range of

learning styles?

-When teachers use different learning styles, it helps children learn more
effectively.
- It improves the speed and quality of learning.
-Students will be more engaged and more interested in the lesson.
