Note : Answer any two of the following questions. 2X5= 10 Marks.
1) If the population is 3,6,9,15,27
a) List all possible samples of size 3 that can be taken without
replacement from the finite population.
b) Calculate the mean of the sampling distribution c) Mean of the
sampling distribution of means. d) Standard Deviation of the
sampling distribution e) S. D of the means sampling distribution of
means.
2) A sample of 400 items is taken from a population whose standard
deviation is 10. The mean of the sample is 40. Test whether the sample
has come from a population with mean 38. Also calculate 95%
confidence interval for the proportion.
3) A one person barber shop has six chairs to accommodate people
waiting for haircut. Assume that customers arrive at the rate of 3 per
hour and spend an average of 15 minutes per service.
Find A) The Probability that a customer can get directly into the
barber chair upon arrival. B)Expected number of customers waiting for
haircut.
C) Effective arrival rate D) The time a customer can expect to spend in
the barbershop.
4) A training process is considered as a two state Markov Process. If it rains,
it is considered to be in state 0 and it does not rain, the chain is in state of

Find the Probability that it will rain for 3 days from today, Assuming that it is
raining today. Assume that the mutual Probabilities of State 0 or State 1 as
0.4 and 0.6 respectively.
