My lesson is about what is one to one correspondence

What are the 5Es?

-Learners build or construct new ideas on top of their old ideas. The 5 E's can be
used with students of all ages, including adults.
1-Engage
2-Explore
3-Explain
4-Extend
5-Evaluate

Engage:
The first stage of the 5Es is Engage; to get and keep children attention and build
interest so they are more involved in the learning process.
To achieve the goal of engaging students in the lesson, I have decided to follow the
following procedures:
First of all, I ask some students to throw the dice and then say the number that
appear aloud .Then I ask the students to say whether the number is correct or not.
Students will compete to tell the right answer and this ensures that students get
engaged in the activity.

Explore:
The second stage is Explore which means looking at something in a careful way to
learn more about it.

In this stage, I prepare an activity for the whole class and I divide the students into
groups of 4. I give a paper that has different numbers for each group and after that I
ask them to glue the numbers to the correct pictures that they were given before.
The objective of this activity is help students learn numbers well and explore facts
by themselves without the teachers interference.

Explain:
The third stage is Explain which means giving students an opportunity to explain
what they learnt to other students.
I will divide the students into groups of 5 and tell them that they have to work
together to do the activity. Im going to give them numbers from 1 to 10 for each
table and Im going to stand in front of the class. When I show them 5 pictures, they
raise their hands and show me number 5. After that, I will ask them to explain to the
other students why they chose number 5.

Extend:
The fourth stage is Extend which means allowing students to add more to their
previous knowledge .This happens by developing enrichment activities.

The activity is very simple. I put them in groups of 4 and provide each group with
clay. Then I give each group a different number and ask them to make different
shapes from clay to show that number.

Evaluate:
The last stage is evaluate. The objective of this stage is to examine students
understanding of numbers.

Finally, the last stage I will see the students levels and see what they have
understood so far.
This stage helps teachers to evaluate students progress and assess their
knowledge. I will tell them the number and they have to write it with their fingers in
the air to make sure that they understand all the numbers.

Report:
The lesson plan will be about one to one correspondence. Its one of the math

concepts, I have implemented 5Es in my lesson. I have used different

activities to apply each stage in the learning process. The stages have
helped me a lot to achieve the lesson objectives. I have gained much
experience in dealing with students and learning materials.
