Highlights of Qualifications

Demonstrated teamwork abilities gained through being an active member in


groups such as the U of M Parks Canada club and sports like soccer and
hockey as well as working in a team oriented environment like Assiniboine
Park, Safeway, and McDonalds.
Successfully led several informative tours and educational programs with the
public, as well as effectively managed volunteers that were assigned to my
group at Assiniboine Park Conservancy.
Experience working effectively outdoors in a variety of conditions (hot, cold,
rainy, buggy,) in both urban and natural settings through Assiniboine Park
Conservancy and volunteering at Fort Whyte.
Highly interested in working outdoors and the environment in general shown
by field of study, volunteering and work locations (Ft. Whyte, APC), and
outdoor activities like camping and hiking.
Motivated and reliable student, awarded the Clayton H. Riddell Indigenous
Undergraduate Award Scholarship for highest grades of an indigenous
student accepted to the Faculty of the Environment and being on Deans
Honour Roll.

Environmental and Outdoor Skills

Experience maintaining wood duck boxes with Fort Whyte, involved using
tools (power-drills, screw drivers), climbing ladders, removing wood duck
boxes, keeping detailed notes on tasks completed and findings,
Operated YSI probe to sample various parameters in lakes at Fort Whyte,
including temperature, pH, oxygen level, and algal content.
Attended workshop on trapping small mammals from setup to collection as
well as about small mammals themselves
Worked outside daily during summer through all conditions while leading
children activities at Fort Whyte and Assiniboine Park & Zoo
Led outdoor forest walks at Ft. Whyte Alive including snow-shoeing during
winter months
Attended a GIS workshop, learned the basics of working with ArcGIS and
creating maps

Leadership Skills

and working with them to best showcase their skills and strengths when
working with children
Took initiative by inquiring when it appeared customers were in need of
assistance while working at Safeway, or when plans were not working out at
Assiniboine Park Conservancy, would attempt to work around it
Led tours at Fort Whyte to the public and ensured they had a good time and a
memorable one
Supervised children at Assiniboine Park and guaranteed their safety and
needs were being met at all times
Mentor to two younger siblings, helped them with school work, worries, etc.

Communication and Job Skills

Worked with a team effectively and efficiently to create a safe, enjoyable, and
memorable experience for children at Assiniboine Park Conservancy
Organized tasks in order of importance and time-sensitivity in order to
effectively complete them to satisfaction when working the closing shift
Superb interpersonal skills having to rely on skillful communications with the
public and team members in order to be effective workers
Adept at using computers and Microsoft programs like, word, excel,
powerpoint, etc. from completing school projects and general use
Engaged with members of the public regularly as an interpreter at Ft. Whyte
Alive and ensured their enjoyment and that the experience met all their
expectations
