PAPER 6: DISSERTATION
Instructions for submission:
1. You are required to submit two copies of your dissertation, including an abstract of not more than
150 words.
2. Ensure that your name does not appear on the title page of, or at any point in, the copies of the
dissertation to be submitted.
3. Ask your supervisor to sign the declaration below indicating that he/she has supervised this
submission.
4. Enter all information in block capitals on two copies of this cover sheet, and sign the declaration.
(N.B. The Administrative Offices will not have your candidate number.)
5. Firmly attach one copy of this cover sheet to the title page of each copy of your dissertation, which
should be submitted securely bound. (N.B. No binding facilities are available in the Administrative
Offices.)
6. Deliver the two copies of the dissertation in person to the drop box (situated in the Pendlebury
Library for the submission period) before 2.00 p.m. on Tuesday 26 April 2016. The drop box
will be locked at 2.00 p.m. precisely, and late submissions will have to be made through the
Administrative staff who will log the exact time of submission.
If the whole or a part of any coursework submission is late, up to five marks will be deducted per
hour (or part thereof) from the final mark for the paper at the discretion of the Chairman of
Examiners. This penalty will not be implemented in cases in which a prior extension has been
agreed between the candidates Director of Studies/Tutor and the Secretary of the Applications
Committee for the University. Acceptable grounds for an extension might be serious illness or injury
(supported by medical evidence), or bereavement. Computer or printer failure is not an acceptable
reason for an extension. You are strongly advised to have your work ready for submission at least
twenty-four hours before the deadline.
7. You are reminded that the length of your dissertation must be within the range of 5,000 to 7,000
words (excluding bibliography and appendices, but including footnotes).
