Introduction: __10__ minutes
Hook/Attention Grabber: Feeling ceremony.
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: Yesterday you guys created a crossword puzzle. Can someone
share one of their clues and the answer to it?
Transition to Body: We are going to start the class by reading before we move onto the writing
activity. Please try to keep your reactions on the inside.
Body: __44__ minutes

Remind the students to keep their emotions inside until the discussion much like chapter 15
when we learned about warfare

Take a minute to gather your thoughts
How do you feel or what were your first reactions?

Learning Activity #3: Obituary Assignment
Handout the assignment get the students to change the due date on the handout
I am purposely not giving you an example because I want you to come up with the ideas on
your own
There are required elements listed and that should be a guide for you
Keep everything appropriate!
Rubric is on the back of the paper and on D2L so you know how you will be marked

Transition to Next Lesson: Tomorrow we are going to do more of a creative reflection and create a
postcard to Elsewhere!
WHAT IF??
Alternates if something happens: Miss Denyers Bin of Books. When students are done early
they will pick a book from the bin and start reading. If they wish to write a quick reflection
they can, but if they wish to just read they can do that too.
