1. When the teacher is faced with a situation where he/she must find a creative
solution, how does he/she respond to the need?
Pam is very technically sound in her profession and would base her solution on her vast
knowledge, not on a personal opinion. She is a very logical person she would come up
with a creative solution that would satisfy all involved in any situation.
2. When the teachers life or an event does not go according to plan, how does
s/he adapt?
The type of work Pam does is ever changing. There are never any two days that are
alike. She is faced with challenges in her work every day that need to be addressed and
adapted to immediately. She is always calm and finds the best way to handle the
unexpected, whether it is dealing with clients or travel for her job.
3. Define high quality work and then rate the teacher.
High quality work is doing what is needed and taking it to the next level. Pam does her
job thoroughly, and is always going way beyond expectations. She has volunteered to do
additional teaching assignments and presentations. She always receives excellent ratings
from the participants on her teaching skills.
4. What actions has the teacher taken recently to help others?
In our profession we identify problems in laboratory testing done by the laboratories we
inspect. A great deal of this is educating the laboratory staff to make sure they are doing
testing correctly. She is very skilled at providing additional education for improvements.
We have a system in place that customers voluntarily give feedback. Pam always
receives compliments on how she takes an educational approach to help the laboratories
achieve their corrections.
5. If the teacher meets someone new who is not like her/him, what does the
teacher do?
Pam has worked many years with our company. She has trained many new surveyors
over the years and adapts her teaching style that best suits the new persons style of
learning. She has a caring attitude that allows for the best teaching/learning
environment.

6. When someone disagrees with the teacher how does s/he resolve the
disagreement?
Pam always keeps emotions in check. She listens to others opinions and welcomes new
opinions as an opportunity to learn. She would politely state her opinion if it was not in
alignment with anothers opinion, but never in a confrontational manner.
7. When someone offers the teacher feedback on something just completed,
what is the response? What does s/he do when feedback is negative but
positive feedback was expected?
Pam welcomes feedback, and views both positive and negative as opportunity to learn
from the information given.
8. Explain a situation when the teacher made the right, honest, and ethical
decision.
On a daily basis, Pam inspects laboratories that may not be doing things according to
regulations. Often time laboratories will contest her findings even though they are not
doing the testing correctly. Pam will listen, but will always follow the regulatory
requirements since that is always in the patients best interest.
9. Other than working on a masters degree, what steps are being taken by the
teacher to improve?
In our profession of Laboratory Medicine, Pam has to learn new procedures and
technologies to be current in her career. She attends, as well as teaches at a number of
continuing education offerings. She brings forward useful suggestions on areas that our
company should expand training for our employees.
