Part Two

The purpose of this project is to observe and collect data. I will be observing my

own data that I collected and also the data from the entire class. There will be
comparing of data and reflecting on what has been observed. There will be charts to
provide data analysis. I will also be computing data like the mean, standard deviation,
and testing claims. The overall objective is to compile data and show it in a neat and
easy way to understand.

I feel like the data collected is pretty consistent with what I expected. I knew that

from just my observations that they would be a little different compared to the classes
data. I was impressed with the data collected for the purple color. It was surprisingly
low on my data and also the classes data that was collected. Comparing my data to the
class it was pretty similar. Looking at the classes data I noticed that most of the
frequency was evenly distributed. Comparing my data the proportions are pretty
skewed.

Mean=60.5

Standard Deviation=5.87

5 Number Summary
Minimum = 54
Q1 = 59
Q2 = 61

Q3 = 62

Maximum = 64

The shape of the distribution is kind of bell shaped. I wouldnt say its a perfect

bell shape but from the date plotted it does resemble a bell. I would have to agree with
my stats and the classes data, they are both very similar.

Categorical variables can be counted and put into different groups while

quantitative variables can be measured and also ordered. One interesting thing about
categorical data is that sometimes data can be miscued or have no order. I feel like pie
charts make most sense for categorical data due to the amount and what it represents.
It wouldnt make a whole lot of sense if we were looking at order or distribution between
frequencies. For quantitative data you need graphs that show order like a box plot or
even frequency histogram because the graphs will represent trends that you are looking
for.

Confidence Interval Estimates

Hypothesis Tests

A Hypothesis Test is an assumption of a certain parameter. It could be true or false. You
test the claim to see if it is true or false. You can test different confidence intervals, for example
a 99%, 95%, 90%. Depending on your results you can be sure of the C.I wether it be true or
false.

Normally Distributed and n>30

Simple Random Sample

I feel like my samples met all of these conditions. Making errors could definitely happen

with the data being collected. Simply a human mistake in putting in wrong data and even using
the wrong equation to collect results. When choosing to reject the null hypothesis when it is
actually true you could make a type 1 error. You can also fail to reject the null hypothesis when
it is false. I feel like in finding C.V. and P values and the all the other requirements it is really
easy to make mistakes. You have to make sure to take your time and be observant so you dont
make any little mistakes.

I really dont know how to improve the sampling method. I feel like everything collected

gave me sufficient evidence to wether accept or reject a certain hypothesis. I have learned how
to use the correct equations to get the correct data that is asked for. I now am confident in
rejecting and not rejecting certain claims. I also feel more comfortable in using tables and
extracting data from them.
