Hello Mile High Middle School parents,

My name is Summer Ammons and I will be your students 7th grade Language Arts
teacher. Heres a little bit about me. I earned my Associates in Arts degree in English at Golden
West College. I also attended California State University Long Beach before transferring to
Arizona State University to earn my Bachelor of Arts degree in English. My grandfather was my
inspiration for becoming a teacher because even after he retired his former students would
contact me and tell me what an impact he had on their lives.
As your students teacher, I will be working to plan and prepare lessons that will be
engaging to the whole class. I will also be available to assist any student who would appreciate
extra support either before or after school. I expect every student to be accountable for their
work and actions in class, as well as come to class prepared with a respectful attitude. I
anticipate parents to communicate with me any concerns they have about their student and be
actively engaged in their students progress. Your student will need a 3 ring binder, 1 spiral
notebook, a pen and pencil everyday.
Prior to this semester, my background includes observing high school junior students and
developing a case study. I was able to interview and work with students who had difficulties
reading or who simply just did not enjoy or see the importance of reading. In this course,
students will encounter classic Literature, poetry, as well as modern young adult texts.
Teaching and working with children is a joy to me, and I am pleased to have the
opportunity to work in a classroom. Part of my goal as an educator is to spark curiosity in the
minds of students and to create a positive mentality about reading various texts. The best method
to execute these educational goals is through student centered learning techniques. When
teachers show their acceptance of students, and students begin to see and understand that
teachers care, school can be mutually satisfying to both students and teachers. Diversity is what
makes learning in an English classroom environment possible because it facilitates discussions
and culture through different lenses at all levels. I plan to foster self-esteem in my students so
they have an equal playing field with every other student.
I look forward to getting to know you all. Please do not hesitate to contact me through
phone or email with any questions regarding your students progress: School Phone (928) 7173241 or sdammons@asu.edu. I would be happy to meet in person by appointment after school.

Sincerely,
Summer Ammons

Mark Goligoski
Principal
Prescott Mile High Middle School
300 S. Granite St.
Prescott, AZ 86314

Dear Principal Goligoski:

As a Secondary English Education graduate, and after carefully reviewing your school, I feel I am highly qualified
for the available seventh grade English teaching position at Prescott Mile High Middle School. Some of my
strengths at previous occupations include being a great leader and role model. At two separate corporate
establishments I was promoted to the Lead Trainer position in which my organizational and communication skills
were utilized.
Part of my goal as an educator is to spark curiosity in the minds of students and to create a positive mentality about
reading various texts. I plan to execute these educational goals through student centered learning techniques. When
teachers show their acceptance of students, and students begin to see and understand that teachers care, school can
be mutually satisfying to both students and teachers. Diversity is what makes learning in an English classroom
environment possible because it facilitates discussions and culture through different lenses at all levels. I will give
the students the gift of self-esteem so they have an equal playing field with every other student.
I am qualified for this position because of my previous work experience and team building skills. As a graduate of
the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College I am certified and trained in accommodating diverse learners in an inclusion
environment including Special Education students as well as English Language Learners. Working in a teaching
cohort instilled in me the importance of reaching out to my peers for teaching strategies and inspiration as well as
the benefits of asset based thinking.
Thank you for your time and consideration for hiring me as Prescott Mile High Middle Schools seventh grade
English teacher. I look forward to your call and please do not hesitate to contact me for further information.

Sincerely,

Summer Ammons

Dear Mr. Greene,
A problem has arisen regarding Ashleys performance in school that I believe we can
handle together. When the home and school cooperate as we shall be doing, Ashley will be soon
back to her usual level of accomplishment.
You see, while she usually performs all of her tasks, Ashley has not been handing in her
homework assignments for the past two weeks (2/7-2/21). She is currently missing eight of
them, and one more assignment not completed could have an effect upon her Language Arts
grade. Ashley is too good a student to allow this to happen, and that is what has motivated me to
reach out to you.
Ashley will have homework every night next week. I will be checking it in class, and I
am hoping that you will be able to supervise its completion at home. With all of us pitching in, I
am certain that Ashley will regain her level of productivity.
I enjoy having Ashley in class because she eagerly participates in discussions and she
volunteers to help struggling students when she is given the opportunity. I know that through our
joint effort, this glitch in her academic life will soon pass.
I will keep you informed and please call or email me if you have any further concerns.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Ammons
