Scenario 1: Interview for Acceptance
The interviewer is nicely dressed and well informed of your situation, but wanted to
hear the account in your own words. He sat on the seat and flipped through his notes.
Reading them intently he lifted up his glasses and looked at you.
What is your name? He asked.
You looked over at the translater. He quickly told you the question and helped you
throughout the interview.
My name is ______. You answered.
He looked over his notepad and began asking you question such as:

Why did you decide to leave Syria?
Who do you plan to bring with you?
Birthplace?
Whats your name?
Tell me the names and ages of your family members, and where they are

Scenario 2: Screening Process


The screening starts with they them looking into your history(birthplace, schools attended,
street you lived on). Then they move on into seeing if you are connected with a terrorist group.
By doing security checks(such as police), which shows if he connected to people who are
connected a terrorist group. It can also show whether they have any criminal violations.
From there they take fingerprints from the people that are attempting to seek refuge. These
fingerprints are taken to the government to to scanned in several different departments.
Then they search your medical history, and see if you would need any type of help
medically(such as cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS,etc).
They then check your cultural history (such as your ethnicity, religion, etc).

Scenario 3: Success!
You have been granted asylum in canada. You will feel at home right in Toronto. You will
stay in our refugee camp for 3 to 4 months and be asked to leave but you will want to get
your own money for transportation, food, clothes ,etc.

When you arrive at Toronto airport, your Sponsor Sarah picks you up. Then she explains
why she picks up refugees: When Sarah grew up in Canada she was grateful for the
sacrifices that her parents made because they were originally from Syria. In Syria many
families were killed and taken to jail for standing up for their rights. Sarahs parents
knew that they needed to go to seek asylum and went to Canada. Her mother decided to
save money and sell her stuff to seek asylum somewhere else. They moved to many
refugee camps from Turkey and Jordan but after 3 years canada tell them that they can
be accepted to Canada. They jumped with excitement. Sarah and her mother have
finally been settled in canada. They are lucky to be in asylum and Sarah like to pick up
refugees because she knows what they go through.

Scenario 4:Home Sweet Home


After Sarah drops you off in Toronto you go to customs to get a job, a place to stay, etc.
You are given a job, depending on your skills and a job. You will also get a job depending
on how big is your family (or if you brought any at all).

Scenario 5:Debriefing Room


After you get to Canada you will have to go to the debrief room and youve completed
the simulation.
5. Characters:
Dr. Aslam Daud, right, chairman of Humanity First, packs boxes
with Mashaal Saeed in Vaughan on Dec. 4. Humanity First is one
several local charities that will be sponsoring Syrian refugees in
the coming months. He sponsored a refugee who needed help. He
was in Greece waiting for a boat.

William started in the Canadian Border Police when he was 21.
He has been stationed in the border looking for narcotics and
jihadists. He looks for bombs and refugees/immigrants looking to
got to Canada.

Nationality: Canadian/ Syrian
Sarahs distant family member came over from Syria to Canada,
with this she felt the need to give back to refugees that are
struggling to come to Canada.

Objective: Help refugees settle down and live in Canada

Age: 37
Religion: Shia Muslim
Political View: He is against ISIS
Education Level: Went to a medical school in Kazakhstan

Profession: Interviewer for Canada
Why you joined?
I joined because I have always been interested in the lifestyle
refugees go through and listening to their struggles. This helped
me wan to become an interviewer for Canada. I also get a new
perspective on the crisis when I listen to them talk, plus free
travel.
