Standard #3: Learning Environments:

The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative
learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and selfmotivation.
Name of Artifact: Research Paper
Date: November 4, 2015
Course: EDUC 230
Brief Description:
InTASC Standard 3 is all about making sure that the environment a student is working in
is beneficial and helpful for the student. Maslows hierarchy of needs shows that people need to
feel safe and that all of their needs are being met before they can explore anything further, such
as learning. Teachers need to make sure they understand the needs of the students so that they
can give the students a positive learning environment.
Rationale:
This research paper shows the way autism spectrum disorder can affect a student and
their learning and social needs. Before someone with autism can begin to learn they need to
make sure their sensory needs are being met, this is a comparison of how someone with autism
may demonstrate how the needs of InTASC 3 need to be met before any effective learning can
take place.
