Chapter 9- Taking Care of Yourself

I have observed and learned that I have the right to pick and chose the battles
which I want to fight.
This internship is teaching me how to be able to stand up for myself and do my
job correctly. At the end of the day, I can come on top because I am my biggest
supporter.
Sometimes people have ways with words and when you finally realize what they
are saying, it come potentially become harmful to your self-esteem. Ultimately, I
am in control of not letting people hurt me internally.
Words are power, but there is always a way to come up from it. I must dodge
negativity before it damages who I am..

Chapter 7- Developing Cultural

Competence
There are many cultural differences that I have encountered

in my internship.
Milford Public Health is a great example of how diversity the
community is.
Mass of the population is Hispanic, but is not limited to just
that.
The clinic has a non-discrimination policy which allows
anyone and everyone to come in and get services.

Chapter 11- Planning Your Career

Even before the internship, my long-term goal was to one day own a

non-profit organization empowering the youth in some way shape or

form.
My short-term goal is to retain my MS degree of Administration of
Human Services. My internship experience is helping get to both
career goals.
In five to ten years, I see myself progressing forth in my career,
gaining experience to help me use sources to make sure that my nonprofit organization remains a success

Chapter 10- Ending My Internship

One of the valuable lessons I will take from my internship is the importance of
team work.
Although the clinic manager used micro-managing as her style, I saw why she
chose the methods that she did. She essentially had to become a front line
worker, the middle man, and the administrator.
With all the chaos that was going on with people resigning and the freeze on
hire, the clinic managersuccessfully established a system that kept all the
clinics up and running.
The unexpected came to pass and everyone was able to keep a steady flow in
the workplace.
