Step 1: Pre-observation Conference


Review of lesson plan: Discuss and take notes on the following:
What is intended to be learned by students?
o Students are working on independently identifying story
elements in a story. This lesson is part of a formative.
How will intern know if students learned what was intended?
o The students will use a graphic organizer to identify the story
elements after listening to a story.
Does plan look adequate to achieve desired learning? YES
If not, what adjustments need to be made?
o The plans are adequate to achieve the goal of the lesson.
How will intern gain attention of students and keep students engaged
throughout lesson?
o Behavior chart, redirection with clapping or chants, engage them
thru the lesson with pair-share.
Are there any special circumstances to consider?
o Two students on behavior monitoring and two students with ASD.
Other Notes in Regards to Preparing for the Observation:
o This is the last lesson of a unit. Students are working
independently to assess mastery of the retelling standard.

Step 3: Reflections after the Lesson:

What strengths were noted? (ie: taking ownership of student learning,

Good lesson! Extended childrens thinking by guiding their ideas to
achieve the goal. Students were engaged throughout the lesson and required
minimum redirection.

What next steps will be taken by the intern/CT team?


Continue using strategies and helping children own their leaning using
scales and self-reflection strategies
