Reflection on the experience

As it was planned, the French lesson was on November 19th, 2015, and not until our
partner Vctor had finished the lesson did we notice some outstanding features.
What is considered to be the main aspect is motivation. It is widely known that it
is the key to any learning process, and as seen in class, does it not only depends on the
teacher, but on the students as well. Sometimes, the teacher plans his lesson carefully,
but his students are not engaged with it as they do not have the so called intrinsic
motivation. This may not result in learning a language, which is the goal of the teacher.
Another thing to mention is that we realized what Krashen explained about
learning another language. It was noticeable that the students followed an order when
they practiced the structure presented. That is, first, they tried to carry out the
pronunciation tasks accurately as possible, but there were some mispronounced words
since the input provided was not enough. After Vctor read aloud the dialogue once
more, some of those words were pronounced correctly.
Last but not least, we agreed on the fact that teaching a foreign language is
challenging since not only does it require mastering the language, but the
methodologies to teach it. Sometimes, teachers are competent in a language, yet they
lack the teaching techniques.
All in all, difficult as it may seem learning and teaching a language successfully
depends on the teacher and the students. And, the teacher may not foresee all the
situations that happen during a lesson as sometimes, students are not willing to
participate that day. He should not get frustrated. Instead, he should have plan B.
