Theory
-Inquiry-based, constructivist learning theory
-Give examples to illustrate the content to be
understood and guide their thinking to a deeper
understanding with examples. Learners
construct their own understandings with past
experience and existing knowledge.

Phase 3: Convergent
-Guiding the students of a better understanding of
concepts or generalization by more questioning.
Phase 4: Closure and Application
-Give definition and students apply their own
understandings to the new information.

Planning
Need to find clear learning objectives along with
using effective examples & non-examples to explain
the topic. Showing what it is & isnt. By having
concrete materials, pictures, & model while using
technology is a great way to express these
examples.

Assessment
-The structure can be used for all developmental
levels.
-Assessed by a standard paper-and-pencil test,
asking questions to see if they understand the
material, and them giving you other examples to
have a deeper understanding of the lesson.

Implementing
Phase 1: Introduction
-Review previous information and grabbing the
students attention.
Phase 2: Open-Ended
-Teacher then presents examples and students
make comparisons and observations.

Motivation
Since the lesson is more open to being
spontaneous, the teacher is able to create on the
spot questions and examples to further motivate
the students to learning. With high levels of
involvement from open-ended questions increases
the interest and perceptions of control and
autonomy.

So what? What is important to understand about this?
