Parents,

Below you will find our weekly updates and attached is the newsletter to give insight to next weeks learning,
assignments, and events. We are also in need of a few more boxes of tissue, large erasers, and pencils to help
us get through the rest of the year. Thank you in advance!
Math- Our Measurement major will be given Thursday. Review went home last Thursday, and is due
Wednesday. Online resources available for supplemental math practice: Think Through Math, Khan Academy,
and Reflex Math.
Science- A Science Menu will be given this week, to be due the following week for a daily grade.
Reading- Book Logs will be due on Thursday for a grade and should be completely filled in with 2-3
complete sentences, summarizing their reading of the day before! It will be turned in on Friday, April
15th for a grade. Along with reading at least 20 minutes every night, students write a 2 3 complete
sentence summary in class the next day!
Reading Tutorials- Week 2
Social Studies- Dont Forget to be working on the Social Studies Research Mural Project that is due on
Friday, April 22 that will be a major grade in both social studies and writing. I am attaching a copy of
the rubric and the project assignment!
Writing- Now that we have completed the state test, we will continue with our Twisted Fairy Tales!

The PTA is looking to fill the following position for the 2016-2017 school year:
Room Parent Chair: The room parent chair is in charge of selecting and training room parents, planning the
Holiday and Valentines parties and communicating with room parents.

Box Tops: Thank you for your support of the Box Tops program this year Schiff parents! Through your
generous submissions, we have earned more than $3100 for Schiff Elementary! While the last check for the
school year has already been totaled for JSE, Box Tops will be accepted through May 1 for the classroom
contest for the school year. Please continue to label bags containing Box Tops with a student's name and
homeroom to ensure they are credited toward classroom goals!
Shark-a-thon reminders:
Ticket order forms have been sent home in your child's Tuesday folder! If you cannot locate the
