Diary Unit 65

AIM: Login, check emails, get folder and brief, got a new assignment brief.
Read this new brief, shown some examples, shared area examples.
Created diary, ILP and sources document, set the milestone reviews,
started working.
EVIDENCE:
I created the
diary, sources
document and
copied the ILP. I
will make a gannt chart to create
the timeline.
This gannt chart took me about
20 mins to setup.
I then started to setup the
director file. I first opened the
software and clicked on DIRECTOR
FILE under New. It then opened up.

In the right hand corner, I


changed the size of the stage,
this was done by going into
Movie and then changing the
stage size to 1200 X 200.

From this point on I changed the tools from default to classic,


the tools will work correctly in this mode.
Once I had done this I needed to import the media to the library.
To do this you need to go into file > import. Once this happens
there will be a box that appears that will want you to find the
folder with the assets in. Once I have done this It comes up with
a question which is does it need to be an image or a stage. It was
checked for images apart from the backgrounds.

Once I had done this I made sure to save it as it was


ready for the next lesson to do the start. This was
saved in Creative Media > Linda > Unit 65 >
Assignment 3. This was called The Pixels web
banner.

The first thing I did was import the first banner to the
stage.

REVIEW: Today I learnt how to set the stage size as I had forgotten, I made
sure to import the images at the right colour depth. I will start to make a
proper start next lesson, as I was just setting things up in this lesson.

lesson I will try to get the first and second page done.

EVIDENCE: Today I started off by opening the file where I saved it last
lesson. The first thing I did was I changed the layout so I can see it all
better.

The first thing I did was to drag the logo to the timeline. I then found out
that the background of the logo had changed to black background.

I then went into the Photoshop Document; I went into


file > Export > Export settings.
Then I clicked the transparent to un-marked and then
to marked again.
I then exported it again and then the background was
gone, I then imported it again to director so it would
work.

I then found another problem which was that you cant see the I so I had
to go back and change its colour. I then changed this to a darker green.

Once this was fixed it looked great, I tried to make this as central as
possible.

Once I had done this I made the first bit of text. The way I did the seconds
where that there are 24 frames in a second.
As I had already done 3x24 = 72. The next one was 72+24= 96. this
was where the next bit of text needed to last for.
The background was dragged to 96 and the text
lasted this long. The font was set to bold and the font
was made a nice blue and
the size was set to 48.

I then had to get rid of the white background.


To do this I had to go into

property inspector
and change the ink
under sprite.

Once I had done this, I had to do the next word which was
Scotland.
This had to last from 96 + 24 = 120 frames
This was set to pink, the size was set to 24 and the font
was century gothic. Then I changed the background to
transparent.
I then wanted the word to be rotated so I used the
rotation tool.
Once this had done I had done this.

Once I had done this one, I then need to do the next one. This was the
Leeds this was done the same way apart from it was blue.

This was then saved as version 2 as I want another copy.


REVIEW: I have learnt that this might take a lot more longer than I thought
it would. I may have to do some extra work.

lesson I will carry on making my web banner.

EVIDENCE: I did a bit of work between my last lessons. I did do my diary


but there was a problem and it didnt save, I only did the last few bits of
text.

I will now add the sound effects to the sound bit of the timeline. I dragged
this to the top and the rest happened on its own, I didnt need to change
anything around.

I then started to do the tickets page. I selected the text button and typed
in what I wanted to type.

I then changed this to make the background transparent, to do this I went


into the property inspector > sprite > ink and change it from copy, to
background transparent.

This changed it to this.

then thought that this looked a bit bad so I then


added the pixels logo to the left and the right.

Then I needed to change the length this means that people will be able to
look at it will enough time.
I then did the next section which is, the touring dates. The first thing I did
was add some text and then I removed the background.

I then added the imported Summer 2016 to the middle section. I had to
resize this to make it fit.

Once I had done this I


wanted to add the Pacman to the left hand side and I made him a bit
bigger.

Then you drag the middle dot towards the other side, this gets its
movement. I held down the shift key to keep it in the right order.

This now moves from left to right and it looks great. I then made sure that
I had saved the work so everything was there.
I then added the Pacman theme tune to the music section.

REVIEW: I learnt how to add some animated gifs to my project, and then
how to move that from one side to another. It now looks great with the
music on it as well.

lesson I will carry on making my web banner. I need to complete this by
the end of the day today.

EVIDENCE: today I started off by doing the ILP changes, I then did the
milestone reviews.

Then I loaded up the director file, I then went to the end of last lesson.

I then started by adding the text as the same as last time, this was easy
to do, I did this on the second row down.

This is the end result, I wanted the text to be differently placed as it


makes it look good.

From this I added the background to it,

I then realized that I had a problem the white background was on it still.
So I went into the property inspector > down to sprite and then changed
the ink to background transparent.

This then looked like this:

From this point I went back and changed the title of the
album to have a underline on it, whilst doing this I moved it
the right as I wanted the text to be closer to the middle.

I then wanted to add something to this, I


didnt do it in my dope sheets, but I will go
into Photoshop add make some text that
says NEW ALBUM, NEW SONGS. I wanted the text to be
yellow and purple so this works out well.
This had a stroke effect added as well.

I then exported this as a PNG with a transparent


background, once I had done this I then imported it
to the director file.

I then dragged this to the timeline and then resized it and then added this
to the right hand side and the left hand side.

I then
did the next page which just needs some text added and the click here
button.
Which took me no longer than 5 minutes to complete.

Once I had done this I then went back to add an effect to the start loading
up THE PIXELS logo.

To do this I went into the behaviour inspector and then I selected library, I
went down to the animation> automatic and selected the fade in/ out one.

This window came up and I left the settings as default, then I tested to see if It
works and it does.

Once my project was done I started to do the checklist, which took me the rest of
the lesson to do.
