ACADEMIC NEWS

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
12th

Reports have been emailed to you on Tuesday

April. The
report mark reflects the whole terms work: tests, assignments and
tasks. Parents please note that at the end of Term 3 all marks reflected
on your daughters report are deleted and all subject educators then
calculate the actual CASS Mark. The Cass Mark usually referred to
as the Year Mark is calculated using every mark accumulated
throughout the year in a ratio prescribed from the Education
Department.

Please note that Wednesday 27 April is a Public Holiday. The hostels

will be open, therefore the boarders will not be going home.

Parents of Grade 8s and other new learners: please do not worry if

your daughters marks are lower than you would normally expect.
The adjustment to boarding, as well as to high school can be difficult
and may impact on marks during the first term. This however does
change as the girls settle into their new school and hostel routine.

Parents please make sure your daughters are at school as the Department
of Education has advised that the two days are not school holidays.

Reports will be handed to the learners on Friday 15 April, please

ask your daughter for the report.

PARENTS DAY
Saturday 16 April: 08:00 to 12:00
We will be emailing all reports on Tuesday 12 April and on
16 April we welcome all parents to PARENTS DAY. This is your
opportunity to meet with the subject teachers in the hall. We urge all
parents to join us and discuss academic results and any concerns with
their daughters subject teachers. Parents need to book an
appointment through your daughter. All Subject teachers will be in
the Hall.
Please try not to miss this opportunity to meet with subject teachers
as it will not be possible to meet at any other time because our term
is full with extra-curricular activities and the educators will not be
available.
Procedures for making appointments:
1.

Your daughter will make 5 minute appointments for you with

her subject teachers.
2. On arrival on the Saturday your daughter will hand you the
appointment list indicating times of appointments. To ensure
that all appointments are met, please arrive on time and do not
exceed the 5 minute time allocation.
Appointments may also be made with Mrs Steyn & Mrs van Sittert,
the school Counsellors, for advice on subject choices and other
concerns. Refreshments will be on sale. Please support.

Thursday 28 and Friday 29 April are school days and not school
holidays. The learners will be going on Academic outings and will
receive work sheets regarding these outings to complete. The learners
cannot afford to miss school.
There will also be hockey practices on these two days for the relevant
groups.

There will be a bus on Friday 29 April and returning Monday 2 May on

the public holiday.

NATIONAL ALL GIRLS FESTIVAL

Congratulations to the girls chosen to represent the school at the National
All Girls Schools Festival. The festival will be hosted by Durban Girls
High School (in Durban) from 27 30 April 2016. The teams will leave
at 06:00 on Wednesday 27 April and return on Saturday 30 April arriving
at school +- 21:00 hours. Good Luck girls!

HAGS BOUTIQUE
HAGS Boutique will be open every Monday from 13:45 14:45.

SCHOOL TOUR TO ROME, FLORENCE, PARMA, MILAN, GENEVA, PARIS

Due to lack of interest shown for the London Paris tour we have had to cancel this tour. There are still 4 places
available for the Rome, Florence, Parma, Milan, Geneva, Paris tour.
The tour will take place in the October holidays from 30 September to 11 October 2016.

The approximate cost of the tour is +-R43 260.00 excluding visas.
