Mini-Basketball Guidelines
1. The team name that appears first on the schedule is considered the home team and
will have first possession of the ball.
2. There will be a 10-minute warm up before each game IF we are running on
schedule. There will be two 20-minute halves of running time and a 5-minute half
time break. Basketballs must stay in the gym.
3. We will play Half-Court rules. This means that there will be no full court press.
4. Every child must receive equal playing time if they are in attendance.
5. Sportsmanship and having fun are the two priorities of Mini-Basketball. We will
keep score of each game but we will not be keeping track of wins and loses.
6. Both teams give three cheers for the opposing team and shake hands after each
game.
7. Starting and stopping times must be strictly followed.
8. Please remember our referees are learning and are Volunteers. Help them; dont
hinder them.
9. The bathrooms by the gym are the only ones to be used.
10. Siblings are welcome to watch the practices & games if they stay in the gym
with parental supervision.
11. There is no need to arrive more than 15 minutes before your scheduled time.
12. No one is allowed up in the hallways.
13. All chairs need to be stacked after the game. If parents do not do it, then the
players must.
14. No food or drink in the gym. Only water in closed containers will be allowed in
the gym.
The team appearing first is considered the home team and has possession of the ball first.
The playing time changes for the tournament. Please note the changes below.
There will be a 5-minute warm up before each game IF we are running on schedule.
There will be two 15-minute halves of running time and a 5-minute half time break.
Please be sure your team is ready to play 10 minutes before the scheduled playing time.
Be sure to encourage proper etiquette after the game by giving 3 cheers for the other team
and shaking hands. Everyone receives a medal for participation after their last game.
Every player and coach will receive a ticket for a free hotdog, chips and pop which can
be redeemed at the concession. The coaches will be given the meal tickets the afternoon
of the tournament. If you have any questions about the regular league or the tournament
