Re: Letter of Reference for Jody Clue
To whom it may concern,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of reference for Jody Clue. In my experience, Mr. Clue demonstrates a
committed professional attitude when assessing, supporting, and meeting the needs of students in his care. This
commitment was exemplified on a regular basis during his St. Lawrence College Children and Youth Worker
placement (September, 2015 to April, 2016) as he supported students in dealing with developmental, social,
emotional and/or behavioural challenges while supporting them as they worked toward their academic goals.
To elaborate somewhat, Mr. Clue established himself as an important member of our Special Education team at
Bayridge Secondary School (BSS) working one-on-one with students as part of our interdisciplinary team in the role
of learning coach. In this role, Jody assisted in the implementation of learning strategies and classroom resources to
encourage appropriate behavioural and academic growth. He participated regularly in informal conferences to
contribute to the development of support plans for students. As an advocate for at-risk individuals Mr. Clue worked
diligently to communicate the needs of the students he worked with as he developed his professional skills as a
student of child and youth support work.
One area in which Mr. Clue exceled was that of rapport with staff and students. His quiet yet competent manner put
students at ease while encouraging dialogue. This approach facilitated positive social, emotional and behavioural
change for learners. In one such case, a student was struggling with how to internalize some of the daily challenges
he faced both personally in the secondary school setting. Jody was able to assess the challenges the student faced
and assisted the student in open-dialogue and critical reflection to further uncover what actions were needed to
move forward. This Gestalt behavioural approach to problem-solving greatly assisted this student in moving forward
while maintaining the students dignity and self-esteem.
Jody Clue has distinguished himself as a dedicated advocate for children and youth. His ability to support students,
collaborate and consult with school personnel facilitated effective strategies for student success. Please accept this
recommendation without prejudice in support of a caring and gifted young student.
Sincerest regards,

Ena Holtermann
