in the activity without getting hurt. The students must
also make sure to be paying attention during the
lesson and focused so a ball does not hit them.

a warning and a reminder that the next time he or
she acts up he will have to sit out. If the student acts

Instant Activity:
Hello class! How is everyone today? We
are going to start class with a little
game I like to call ball tag. In this
game, two people will be the taggers
and two people will be the freeers. If
a person becomes tagged by one of the
taggers, they must freeze until one of the
freers comes and tosses the football to
the person tagged. In order to become
untagged, the person must catch the
football that is thrown to them.
Transition Students will go back to the
white line while I explain the rest of
class.
Set Induction:
Hello class! How is everyone today? We
are going to continue to work on soccer
and get into some soccer game play
today! We first will review how to
properly dribble and pass a soccer ball
and then we will go on to play a couple
soccer games in small teams.
Purpose:
What skills are we trying to incorporate
into our soccer game play that we
learned over our soccer unit? (soccer
dribbling and passing). The reason we
are doing game play is to put the soccer
skills that we learned the past couple
weeks into action and game play.

Start/Stop Signals:
Students will have the
soccer ball between
their legs when I am
speaking. They will
also be making eye
contact with me so I
know they are paying
attention.
Grouping Strategies: I
will group students
together based on their
skill level and ability.

pairs or small groups to
achieve an agreed upon goal.
Students will be working
together in pairs in order to
be the first to complete all

the inside of their foot to their partner.

Each partner will do this 10 times. They
will then each go back to their
designated poly spots. From there, each
student and their partner will practice
passing the soccer ball to each other
accurately 8 times each.
Demonstration Plan:
Teacher- student demonstration. I will
demonstrate the soccer dribble and
soccer pass with another student who I
feel demonstrates the skills best.
Questions to Check Understanding
When dribbling the soccer ball, where
should ones eyes be looking? (out in
front, not down at the ground) Where do
we want to stop the soccer ball when
passing? (stop soccer ball with inside of
foot.
Transition: have students come back to
White line, where they were at the
beginning of class.
Lesson Core - Task 2:
Students will be putting their soccer
skills to the test with some soccer
games. The students will be split up into
4 groups. The games will have less
players so everyone has an opportunity
to play and hit the soccer ball.
Demonstration Plan:
I will reiterate the cues of the skills we
learned earlier and have two students
demonstrate the skills again if need be.
Questions to Check Understanding
What are some important things to
remember when kicking the soccer ball?
(always control the soccer ball) What is
another important thing to remember
when you are in control of the soccer

Teaching Cues for Task 1:
Cues for dribbling:
- use inside of foot
- keep ball close to feet
- keep head up!
- Match speed to skill;
keep ball close to
body
Common Errors Task 1:
1. Students not stopping ball
before passing it to partner.
2. Students losing control of
soccer ball when dribbling
and not keeping in arms
length.

Teaching Cues for Task 2:
Cues for passing:
- non-kicking ball next
to foot
- contact ball in middle
- use inside of foot
- follow through
Common Errors Task 2:
1. Students not passing the
ball and only focused on

and who you are kicking or passing the

For the students that are struggling
more or not getting enough game paly, I
will make the rule that everyone must
touch the soccer ball once before
shooting a soccer goal.

CLOSURE:
Review: Okay everyone! I hope you all
had fun playing soccer today and I hope
everyone was able to play and have a
great time! Soccer is a very popular
