Are you guys excited to watch the 2016 Summer Olympics? Did you know
that the Greeks created the Olympics over 2000 years ago?!
Introduction: The Golden Age of Greece was a time of development, peace,
prosperity, and harmony. Throughout this WebQuest, you will use technology
to explore and learn about the different ways that Greek culture flourished
throughout their Golden Age, and how their architecture, religion, philosophy,
Olympic Games, theater, and art methodologies are still used in the
contemporary world.
Instructions for the WebQuest: Each section has links below. Each group will
have 6 students and each student must contribute to each section (each
student can do one of the sections and then discuss it with their group). You
must visit each link and then respond to the questions accordingly. You will
need to have internet access and some sort of audio device because some of
the websites have interactive videos that include audio. For the questions
that ask for a written response, be sure to use complete sentences, and all
questions that ask for drawing must be colored. If your drawings are not
colored, you will not get credit for that section. If you have any questions you
can ask me during class, and I will also be posting in-depth PowerPoints if
you need additional resources. The links I have given you should be all you
need to complete each section. I look forwards to seeing your work!
Evaluation: Each student will get their own individual grade. Each of the six
sections are worth 20 points, which makes the total written assignment for
the six sections worth 120 points. You will also get 5 points deducted for
each answer not written in a complete sentence. In addition to the WebQuest
assignment, each student must write a one page summary, which relates the
Golden Age of Greece to the contemporary world. This conclusion is worth 30
points, making the entire assignment 150 points.
Conclusion: To conclude the assignment, each student will write a one page
summary explaining how all 6 areas covered are still being used/incorporated
today. They will also need to find a current event related to one area
discussed in the WebQuest. Each group will choose one summary and one
current event and share it with the entire class.
