Year 1
Mentorship:
-Stay in contact with mentors developed during SDA program.
Community Building:
-Connect with department leaders across campus to gain a sense of institutional culture
and initiatives
-Establish a connection with a Community Based Organization that serves in the area I
live or work in.
-Gain a sense of the culture of the campus by participating in campus wide events.
Career Development:
-Obtain a professional full time position within student services in the Seattle Region.
Seek out a position that allows for relational work.
Year 2
Professional Development:
- Seek out more opportunities to attend multicultural competency and diversity training.
-Connect with alums of the SDA program with similar interests.
-Join a professional association within my functional area.
Mentorship:
-Find a mentor within my college to help me plug into opportunities within the
institution.
Community Building:
-Join a cross collaborative committee on campus that brings together many departments.
Year 3
Professional Development:
-Attend a Peoples Institute Workshop.
-Serve as a reader for scholarship or entrance applications.
Mentorship:
-Seek out mentorship opportunities for students with disabilities.
Community Building:
-Be actively engaged with the discussion of the colleges role of community partnership
building.
-Join a committee focused on developing community partnerships.
Year 4
Professional Development:
-Present at a regional conference.
-Take a class on design tools such as Photoshop, InDesign or Publisher.
Mentorship:
-Be actively engaged with mentoring new professionals in the field.
Community Building:
-Serve as a chair on a cross department committee.
Year 5
Professional Development:
-Attend a national conference within my functional area.
Mentorship:
-Host an intern in our office to further deepen opportunities for mentorship.
Community Building:
-Be actively engaged with the strategic planning of an initiative on campus.
Career Development:
-Discern a career move within the Seattle region.
-Pursue opportunities to teach within a classroom setting.
