Foreword
Sadly, in October 2015 the living Guru of the Sikhs, Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
Maharaj was desecrated all over Punjab and this has continued up to April
2016. Between 1920 and 1940 the Dasam Granth Sahib was desecrated like we
are currently seeing with Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj. Around the 1920s
we know of two documented incidents where the Dasam Granth Sahib was
speared and thrown through the Akal Takht Sahib window, and at Gurdwara
Ramsar Sahib its pages were cut out with a knife. This was by followers of the
radical and British loyalist Babu Teja Singh Bhasauria. The SGPC then decided
to remove the parkash or enthronement of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and only
performed the Akhand Path of it on Guru Gobind Singh's Gurpurab, and this
continued until 1947, and then that was stopped also.
It seems the current situation is to make Sikhs remove the parkash of Adi Guru
Granth Sahib Ji. The SGPC should now provide 24/7 security to each Gurdwara,
and it might be essential that Nihang Singhs, who are armed, reclaim this seva,
like they always did. To make these miscreants learn a lesson the Dasam
Granth Sahib should also be reinstalled, like it used to be.
The following is an extract from the book published herein, which contains an
account of the desecration of the Dasam Granth Sahib. A manuscript copy of
was desecrated at the historic Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib, where Adi Guru Granth
Sahib was originally compiled. In Miss Jtt d Kartt (The Deeds of a Hybrid
Caste), the author states that praksh of the DG was taking place at the
Gurdwara in the 1920s. The author refers to the SGPC as Ingrez Sikhs (English
Sikhs) who in his opinion were influenced by the British mindset. The witness
then states the following,
The Ingrez Granth deliberately started tearing out pages of Dasam Guru
Granth with a knife. (p. 14). See, K Singh & G Mann, The Granth of Guru
Gobind Singh, Oxford University Press, 2015, for more details.
It was only a matter of time until there would be an attempt to remove the DG
and this was undertaken without any consultation.
Kartar Singh Jhabbar was the senior leader in the Gurdwara reform movement
and in 1920 he set upon taking control of the Sri Akal Takht from the Akali
Nihangs. He was careful not to send any mobs of men into the Takht, so
instead they sent a large group of women to attack the Akali Nihangs.

According to eyewitness accounts, the damage to the Amritsar AD 1698

Dasam Granth Sahib manuscript was due to it being thrown out of the Sri Akal
Takht during the reform, with a spear from the second floor. This is why the
volume in question has a large hole through the underside of the folios where
the spear had pierced through half the volume. A picture of the sarup is below
you can see where the spear pierced it. It was taken to the Takht Sahib by none
other than Bhai Mani Singh himself, its date is from 1698 AD.

Akali Baba Anup Singh Nihang from Gravesend, UK, was interviewed by
Kamalroop Singh in 2004. Baba Anup Singh served with Akali Nihang Baba
Sahib Singh Kaladhari Panth Pathshu Sultan-e-Qaum at the Sri Akal Takht
Sahib and was present when the SGPC came in with the army of women. He
was present when the Akal Takht Sahib was overtaken by the neo-Akalis/SGPC
in the 1920s and according to his eye witness account Baba Sahib Singh's
bones were broken by a fanatical young lady. The Sri Dasam Granth Sahib was
thrown out of the Akal Takth Sahibs window by stabbing it with a spear.
