CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE

St. John's call committee has recently
received two more candidate names from
the Nebraska Synod office. After
considerable review of the candidate's
RLP (rostered leader profile) a decision
was made to have conversation with them
via Skype.
As we call a new pastor to St. John's, let us
pray together for faith:
Lord God,
You have called your servants to ventures
of which we cannot see the ending, by
paths as yet untrodden, through perils
unknown. Give us faith to go out with good
courage, not knowing where we go, but
only that your hand is leading us and your
love supporting us; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen

In the month
of May, four
First
Communion
confirmation
class times
will be made
available for
any baptized youth whose parents have
discerned that their children are ready to
receive the Lords Supper for the first time.
These dates and times for class are May 4,
2:30-3:30pm, May 4, 5-6pm, May 11, 2:303:30pm; & May 11, 5-6 pm. All classes will be
held in the sanctuary.
As St. Johns Church Council has supported
and endorsed the practice of baptized
members of any age being able to receive
communion after mutual conversation and
instruction between the child, parent(s), and
pastor(s), these confirmation classes are open
to children and adults of any age. Attendance
is required at only one of the four scheduled
class opportunities. Families must RSVP their
intent on attending a class no later than noon
of the day of the class by calling the church
office (402-371-1985) or by registering
online. If no RSVPs are received for a class, it
will not be held. If these times do not work for
a family, Pastor Justin will help schedule a
personalized time as scheduling allows. In
each hour-long class, we will review how God
loves us and that God feeds us, using stories
from the Spark Story Bible. Students will also
practice and learn how communion is received
at St. Johns and other churches. It is strongly
preferred that children attend the class with
their parent(s).
Baptized children of God at St. John's who
attend a May 2016 First Communion Class will
be invited to receive First Communion on May
14 or 15 as we celebrate Pentecost. If this
weekend does not work for a family, please be
in conversation with Pastor Justin or Pastor
David to discuss other options.
We look forward to celebrating First
Communion with the families of those baptized
young people who will be taking part in the
Lord's Supper for the first time.

Its time again for Meals on Wheels!

Volunteers are needed (young or old) to help
deliver meals to shut-ins from May 9 through
June 3. More information will follow or
contact Carol Sorsen if you have questions.

I would like to thank the pastoral and office

staff for their help and support. I want to thank
the Majesty Choir members for their
dedication and hard work that resulted in such
memorable performances. There are also
three more individuals I want to thank. Ron
Benson for his help and guidance setting up
the sound system. Justin Murphy for his time
at rehearsals and the excellent job he did
running sound for us. Finally, a huge thank you
to Vern Kraus for developing the PowerPoint
artwork that added so much to the
presentation.
