Impact of Recreational Programs on Youth
Introduction:
Attention-Getting Statement: In 1991, there were 1.9 million adolescents between
the ages of 15 and 19, equaling 6.8% of the Canadian popular who were at risk.
This number continues to grow as do the importance of finding ways to support
young adolescence growing up in society.
General mention of 3 or 4 supporting ideas:
Recreational programs:
o Increase the likelihood of positive social interactions
o Fewer delinquent behaviours
o Greater sense of equality within the community through
participation
Clear thesis statement:
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the positive impact recreational programs
have on youth within the community through increasing the likelihood of positive
social interactions, causing fewer delinquent behaviours and creating a greater
sense of equality within the community.

Topic Sentence: Overall the development of recreational programs provided for
youth greatly impacts their social development, their choice of delinquent

Youth are provided with a positive social environment to grow as an
individual and with their peers with the guidance of an appropriate adult
role model for guidance and support along the way.
The youth provided with a greater sense of belonging and education are
more aware of their surroundings and their importance to have a positive
role in their community.
There is equal access for all youth to feel the ability to join activities,
become independent and feel needed.
Memorable Statement
Youth are the people of the future and require the guidance and support
from the community to assist them in their challenges of growing up in an
ever changing society.
