EXAUGURAL MESSAGE

delivered during the Induction Ceremony of 2016 Board of

Directors held at Oryx Rotana Hotel, 22 January 2016

Greetings!
Welcome to the Induction Ceremony of our 2016 Board of Directors headed
by President-Elect Engr. Gilbert Lorenzano! This event is indeed very
significant, for it brings an opportunity to reflect on the hopes and aspirations
of the past, evaluate the achievements of the present and perhaps challenge
and inspire the future.
My duties as President ended at 11:59pm of 31 December 2015. Today, I
would like to officially say goodbye and thank you my dear fellow members,
for your support and may I request that you also extend my earnest thanks to your families, friends
and all our benefactors for supporting the hopes and aspirations of 2015. In closing, I would like to
summarize the humble accomplishments of PICE-Qatar during the past year. In 2015, we had:

5 issues of The Tekton our newsletter presented to and approved by the general
membership on January 30 last year.
18 Seminars & trainings equivalent to 6588 CPD hours
3 ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers approved plus 5 approved this month thereby
leaving 12 ACPEng awaiting approval
17 ASEAN Engineers approved, 25 ASEAN Engineers pending
1 APEC Engineer approved, 5 APEC Engineers pending
105 SPLBE Reviewees
81 SPLBE Examinees
19 SPLBE Passers (New Civil Engineers)
111 Reactivated members
(members who were inactive for 5 years or more)
39 Life members approved
297 New members
72 Weekly meet-ups
81 Certificates of good standing
12 Outreach programs (POLO-OWWA) including 1 outreach program for fire victims at
Shahaneyah (3 Plane tickets for distressed OFWs)
1 Blood donation campaign
2-month basketball tournament plus 1-day bowling, table tennis, billiard, darts, table football &
chess tournaments
P311,000 fund raised for our 3rd School Building Project
QR69,000 cash fund plus QR15,000 collectibles turned over to 2016 BODs

This is not my accomplishment nor this is the accomplishment of the 2015 Board of Directors alone.
This is the accomplishment of the entire membership of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers
Qatar Chapter, the same membership who will be able to surpass such accomplishments by working
together, collaborating together and uniting as one organization towards sustainable excellence. Let
the accomplishments of 2015 challenge and inspire the 2016 BODs and all upcoming boards. Let
every years accomplishment sustain and maintain the upward graph of our organizational existence.
Let us work together to achieve and maintain sustainable excellence.
Congratulations to the 2016 Board of Directors! Rest assured of my full support to the incoming
administration under the able leadership of President Gilbert Lorenzano. I would expect the entire
membership to extend the same support to President Gilbert as you did to me.
