DESIGN
DESCRIPTION: For this project I was required to design a brochure for a business
(real or fictional), a new and original logo, and create and use my own body copy.
PROGRAMS:
Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images. One should be clipped
in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.
Write at least 250 words of original copy.
PROCESS: I created a fun, yet simple and delicate looking, logo in Illustrator as a
representation of gelato itself. I used a decorative font (popsies) and manipulated
it to look like it was forming a cone. I then used a brush to add a watercolor-looking
gelato scoop. To add a fun factor, I decided to use more vibrant colors (purple and
yellow) that I could incorporate in the brochure.
I brought the logo into InDesign. I decided to extend the watercolor by creating the
background with brushes in Photoshop. I decided to create unity between the logo
and the brochure by using circles as frames for the body copy and images.

DESIGN
Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Create an original logo to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience.
Market research: gather opinions from at least ten people.
Use the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos. (Picture references are allowed)
Refine the logo with variations for color
PROCESS: I decided to use ChunkFive for the title font (to bring a strong and
slightly mechanical feel to the logo) and Bebas Neue as the body font. I then
went and found a clipart of a tractor and pasted it into Illustrator. I used the pen
tool to create my own shape. After, I filled in the different shapes I according
to the color scheme I decided to use. I positioned the company name under the
image and created an outline on the text so I could manipulate the top right
serif of the L to meet with the D. I then created a line to go at the bottom of the
title to unify the design and trap the veiwers eye inside the logo. I also added
a rectangle behind the text to add more contrast and unify the color scheme.

PROJECT
Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow
Blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements
Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
PROCESS: I first chose a quote and then planned out what I wanted my image to look
like based on the quote. For the backgorund I found a flower-lined path and adjusted the
image to be a bit brightert. I then layered a picture of a sky with clouds and a sun and faded
it using a brush to blend with the background. I wanted a brighter sun to bring a more
joyous feeling to the image so I blended an additiona image of the sun into the sky I had
created. Next I found a girl and added her to the image and blended so she looked slightly
spiritual. I then created two rectangles; one with a white stroke and no fill, and one with
just a white fill. I used these as a base for the quote I was using so there was more contrast

OBJECTIVES:
Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together)
Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience.
Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs
PROCESS: I started off by scanning in the image of a boy and cropped off some of
the border. I then played around with different shapes to decided what I wanted to
do and settled on using circles. I created repetition and contrast using the circles
and the font, as well as a monochromatic color scheme. I also positioned them in a
succeeding fashion to help create hierarchy asymmetry. After positioning the circles
I chose a font that I felt related to my message and typed out my title and body font.
The arrow was an idea that I decided later to add more to my message by drawing
additional attention to the image.

DESIGN
Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors
into the layout.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE
Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
PROCESS: The first thing I did was pick a quote to base the design on. I took a picture
of my pet cat, Stella, and made sure it had plenty of lead room. I opened up the image
in Photoshop and changed the collar from green to blue to match the color scheme
I had planned. I also changed the vibrance of the image and the levels to emphasise
the blue in the image. I found the text I wanted to use and typed the quoted. I created
a rectangle to create contrast between the text and the image. I later created circles
to add asymmetry, rhythm, and repetition to the design. I then added color swatches of the three colors I used in the poster in addition to their names and the color
scheme I followed.

OBJECTIVES:
Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Learn how to create a packaged project folder.
PROCESS: I mainly used the shape tool in InDesign to create the various accents that
you see in the flier. When starting out, I thought about what kind of a message I wanted to
portray and to who. I also created sketches of different ideas I had.
I maintained the rule of alignment and made sure that everything in this
flier was aligned with something. I used a tiny bit of asymmetry, but not
much. I also made sure to use adequate repetition, as well as rhythm.
I also feel as if all of the parts of my flier come together as a whole.

DESIGN
DESCRIPTION: Create a print design that can be sold on my personal Etsy page.
PROGRAMS:
Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Figure out who a target audience and the types of prints they would buy.
Create a unique, simple print.
Use a popular saying in the print.
PROCESS: I found a quote about happiness that I liked a lot. From there I thought
about what fonts I wanted to use to portray the quote and how I wanted to lay everything out by sketching my ideas.
I wanted the design to have a classy, elegant feel to it so I created a black background. I then created a stroke using the paintbrush tool that I could use as an accent
for the quote. I put emphasis on the word happiness both with font choice and the
accent stroke because I felt it was the most important part of the quote I was using. I
added arrows at the bottom of the quote to hold everything together and add a popular aspect to the design, (turns out a lot of younger adults like arrows in designs.)

Web
PAGE
DESCRIPTION: A website I created that showcases a logo design from this semester
as well as the process I went through to create it.
PROGRAMS: TextWrangler
Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page so the long side is 300 500
pixels.
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML.
Acquire a working knowledge of CSS.
PROCESS: I started out by creating the basics of the body on HTML. I typed out all
the information I wanted displayed on the page and added my logo as well. I linked
my CSS file to my HTML page. I also created 2 different headers and added a link to
my blog at the bottom of the page.
In CSS I personalized the text, background image, and colors. I ensured that my
design was well balanced, not too distracting, and simple while also interesting. I
centered the logo and placed it on a black background to ensure that it was the main
focal point. I also kept the flow by using two different sizes of headers, which draws
the attention down the page, creating flow and rhythm.

OBJECTIVES:
Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead.
PROCESS: For the letter head, I used the same icon with the restaurant name below
at the top. I then decided to span all the info across the page under the logo and kept
the circles from the business card incorporated by using it to separate the information. I decided not to use a watermark as it seemed distracting after trying it in
different areas.

Ps Ai Id
OBJECTIVES:
Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead.
PROCESS: For the front of the business card I made the ninja icon the focal point and
added the restaurant name directly underneath.
I decided to make the back of the business card black with white accents. I placed
the logo I designed into a white circle. I then put a black circle behind that and
a white rectangle behind that. This way I was able to create a curved effect that
wrapped around the logo with the box I placed the contact info in. I then grouped it
all and placed it inside the shape I made for the business card.
